Recent advances in boosting interfacial bubble dynamics with external fields

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
External physical fields, including acoustic, magnetic, thermal, mechanical, and optical stimuli, accelerate the entire bubble‐dynamics sequence of nucleation, growth, and detachment. Abstract The efficiency of industrial electrocatalytic reactions depends not only on generating gaseous products but also on their detachment from the catalyst surface ...

Magnetohydrodynamic code for gravitationally-stratified media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Aims. We describe a newly-developed magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) code with the capacity to simulate the interaction of any arbitrary perturbation (i.e., not necessarily limited to the linearised limit) with a magnetohydrostatic equilibrium background ...

Strengthening urban resilience in China through underground infrastructures management: Addressing global climate challenges with technological solutions

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper explores how climate‐resilient technologies, such as smart grids, digital twins, and self‐healing materials, can enhance urban resilience. It highlights the urgent need for proactive planning, public‐private collaboration, and data‐driven innovation to future‐proof underground infrastructure amid accelerating climate and urban pressures ...

Inductive MHD Generator

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 1963
The electrodynamic response of a particular inductive magnetohydrodynamic generator is calculated. Expressions for the output voltage and output power are derived. The results of experiments conducted with the generator mounted on an electromagnetic shock-tube agree with the theoretical predictions. The measured output power is of the order of 10 watts

Scaling, Intermittency and Decay of MHD Turbulence

open access: yes, 2004
We discuss a few recent developments that are important for understanding of MHD turbulence. First, MHD turbulence is not so messy as it is usually believed.

Design, Preparation, and Structural Control Mechanism of High Performance Water Splitting NiFeCu Catalyst under Magnetic Field

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
By utilizing magnetic field‐assisted electrodeposition to synthesize a Cu‐rich dendritic NiFeCu electrocatalyst, this study significantly improves the efficiency of water splitting. The research not only introduces an innovative strategy for designing highly active bifunctional catalysts but also pioneers a new direction for the application of magnetic

Dataset of human skin and fingernails images for non-invasive haemoglobin level assessment

open access: yesScientific Data
Anaemia, a decrease in total concentration of haemoglobin (Hb) in blood, affects substantial percentage of the population worldwide. Currently, the gold standard for determining the Hb level is the invasive analysis of venous blood.

An On-Orbit Dynamic Calibration Method for an MHD Micro-Angular Vibration Sensor Using a Laser Interferometer

open access: yesSensors, 2019
The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) micro-angular vibration sensor is a significant component of the MHD Inertial Reference Unit (MIRU) and measures micro-amplitude and wide frequency angular vibration. The MHD micro-angular vibration sensor must be calibrated

The Exact Solution of the Riemann Problem in Relativistic MHD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We discuss the procedure for the exact solution of the Riemann problem in special relativistic magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). We consider both initial states leading to a set of only three waves analogous to the ones in relativistic hydrodynamics, as well ...
