CCR2⁺CD103⁻ intestinal dendritic cells develop from DC-committed precursors and induce interleukin-17 production by T cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The identification of intestinal macrophages (m phi s) and dendritic cells (DCs) is a matter of intense debate. Although CD103(+) mononuclear phagocytes (MPs) appear to be genuine DCs, the nature and origins of CD103(-) MPs remain controversial.

Using and Measuring Motivational Interviewing in a New Setting: Experiences From a Project Highlighting Relationship-Building Skills in the Process of Recruiting New Staff

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology
Relationship-building skills, with empathy and empathic abilities as crucial ingredients, are described as central in human service professions. These professions usually require training on relationship-building skills.

Circulating leukotriene b4 identifies respiratory complications after trauma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background. Leukotriene B4 (LTB4), a proinflammatory lipid mediator correlates well with the acute phase of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Therefore, LTB4-levels were investigated to determine whether they might be a useful clinical marker ...

The effect of extreme response and non-extreme response styles on testing measurement invariance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Extreme and non-extreme response styles (RSs) are prevalent in survey research using Likert-type scales. Their effects on measurement invariance (MI) in the context of confirmatory factor analysis are systematically investigated here via a Monte Carlo

Probing μeγγ contact interactions with μe conversion

open access: yesPhysical Review, 2020
Contact interactions of a muon, an electron and two photons can contribute to the decay μ→eγγ, but also to the conversion of a muon into an electron in the electric field of a nucleus. We calculate the μ→e conversion rate, and show that for the coefficients of operators involving the combination FF∝|E→|2 (as opposed to FF˜∝E→·B→), the current bound on ...

On Achievable Rates for Long-Haul Fiber-Optic Communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Lower bounds on mutual information (MI) of long-haul optical fiber systems for hard-decision and soft-decision decoding are studied. Ready-to-use expressions to calculate the MI are presented.

Observation of ηcωω in J/ψγωω

open access: yesPhysical Review, 2019
Using a sample of (1310.6±7.0)×106 J/ψ events recorded with the Beijing Spectrometer III detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider II, we report the observation of the decay of the (11S0) charmonium state ηc into a pair of ω mesons in the process J/ψ→γωω. The branching fraction is measured for the first time to be B(ηc→ωω)=(2.88±0.10±0.46±0.68)

Superconducting quantum phase transitions tuned by magnetic impurity and magnetic field in ultrathin a-Pb films

open access: yes, 2006
Superconducting quantum phase transitions tuned by disorder (d), paramagnetic impurity (MI) and perpendicular magnetic field (B) have been studied in homogeneously disordered ultrathin a-Pb films.
