Do Obesity Classifications Create the Obesity Paradox? A Scoping Review of Obesity Definitions Applied in Sepsis Research

open access: yesClinical Obesity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Obesity appears to be associated with improved health outcomes in patients with sepsis, a phenomenon termed the obesity paradox. However, the potential influence of varying operational definitions of obesity on clinical outcomes within this paradox remains inadequately characterised.

CRISPR Technology in Disease Management: An Updated Review of Clinical Translation and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
CRISPR‐Cas systems offer transformative genome editing capabilities for precise manipulation of cellular genes. This enables two main therapeutic avenues: ex vivo modification of patient cells for re‐transplantation or direct in vivo gene targeting via advanced delivery methods.

Impact of N‐linked glycans on the dual short fibulin/LTBP‐4 axes regulating elastogenesis

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Elastic fiber assembly is orchestrated by multiple glycoproteins. We delineate the molecular basis of two key axes involved in elastic fiber formation—LTBP‐4L/fibulin‐4 and LTBP‐4S/fibulin‐5. We show that N‐linked glycans on these glycoproteins regulate their interactions and conformations, both of which are critical aspects in elastic fiber formation.
