Characterization of cortical spindles in DBA/2 and C57BL/6 inbred mice

Brain Research Bulletin, 1984
Continuous twenty-four hour EEG recordings were conducted on freely-moving DBA/2 and C57BL/6 inbred mice. No brief spindle episodes (BSEs: 6-7 cps, 1-5 sec duration, high amplitude spindle bursts) were seen in the waking EEG of C57BL/6 mice. BSEs were a conspicuous element of the EEG during active waking (AW) and quiet waking (QW) in DBA/2 mice.

DEXAMETHASONE INFLUENCE ON MORPHINE-INDUCED ANALGESIA IN OUTBRED SWISS AND IN INBRED DBA/2J AND C57BL/6 MICE.

Clinical Neuropharmacology, 1992
1. The influence of dexamethasone on morphine analgesia in three different strains of mice (Swiss, DBA/2J and C57BL/6) was studied by using the tail flick test. 2. I.c.v. as well as i.p. injections of dexamethasone did not modify nociceptive response in all strains. 3. I.c.v.

Functional Peculiarities of MAP2 in DBA/2J Inbred Mice as a Component of Genetic Predisposition to Seizures

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2001
We compared the content of high molecular microtubule-associated protein-2 and its phosphorylation by cAMP- and Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases in the brain of DBA/2J and C57Bl/6 inbred mice. The revealed differences in protein content and phosphorylation can be attributed to the mechanisms mediating audiogenic seizures in DBA/2J mice and ...

Locomotor stimulant effects of cocaine and novel cocaine analogs in DBA/2J and C57BL/6J inbred mice

Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, 1995
The current study compared the potencies of cocaine and a series of substituted phenyltropane analogs of cocaine in stimulating locomotor activity in two genetically distinct strains of mice previously shown to differ in their locomotor responsiveness to cocaine.

Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) analysis of longevity in C57BL/6J by DBA/2J (BXD) recombinant inbred mice

Aging Clinical and Experimental Research, 2010
Genes associated with longevity have been identified using both single gene and genome-wide approaches in a variety of species. The aim of this study was to identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) that influence longevity in male and female mice from twenty-three C57BL/6J by DBA/2J (BXD) recombinant inbred (RI) strains.Approximately 12 animals of each ...

Opposite genotype-specific effects of serotoninergic treatments on Pavlovian Conditioned Approach in mice of two inbred strains C57 BL/6J and DBA/2J

Behavioural Pharmacology, 2021
Individual variability in the response to pharmacological therapies is a major problem in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Comparative studies of phenotypes expressed by mice of the C57BL/6J (C57) and DBA/2J (DBA) inbred strains can help identify neurobiological determinants of this variability at preclinical levels.

A major influence of sex-specific loci on alcohol preference in C57Bl/6 and DBA/2 inbred mice

Mammalian Genome, 1998
C57Bl/6 mice reproducibly prefer to ingest more 10% ethanol in a two-bottle choice paradigm than do DBA/2J mice. In this paper we report the identification of two new sex-specific alcohol preference (Alcp) loci. Melo and associates (1996) identified two loci: Alcp1, a male-specific locus on Chromosome (Chr) 2, and Alcp2, a female- and cross-specific ...

Chronic administration of sodium valproic acid slows pubertal maturation in inbred DBA/2J mice: Skeletal, histological, and endocrinological evidence

Epilepsy Research, 1995
Sodium valproic acid (VPA) has been reported to occasionally delay pubertal maturation in children. In the current study, we sought to establish a valid animal model with which to further investigate the neuroendocrinological sequelae of VPA administration.

Serotonin transporter, 5‐HT1Areceptor, and behavior in DBA/2J mice in comparison with four inbred mouse strains

Journal of Neuroscience Research, 2009
AbstractPrepulse inhibition (PPI), the reduction in acoustic startle produced when it is preceded by a weak prepulse stimulus, is impaired in schizophrenic patients. The DBA/2J mouse strain displayed deficient PPI and is therefore suggested as an experimental animal model for the loss of sensorimotor gating in schizophrenia.

Strain and sex differences on olfactory discrimination learning in C57BL/6J and DBA/2J inbred mice (Mus musculus).

Journal of Comparative Psychology, 2000
In this study, the authors explored potential strain and sex differences in nonspatial cognitive ability. Beginning around 90 days of age, male and female C57BL/6J (C57) and DBA/2J (DBA) inbred mice (Mus musculus) were tested on a task of simple odor discrimination learning with 3 repeated reversals.
