Temperature-Sensitive Dendritic Micelles

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2005
Syntheses up to three generations have been achieved of biaryl-based amphiphilic dendrons with a charge-neutral pentaethylene glycol as the hydrophilic part and a decyl chain as the hydrophobic part. Studies on the temperature-dependent characteristics revealed that these dendrons exhibit a generation-dependent lower critical solution temperature (LCST)

Thermodiffusion of Charged Micelles

Physical Review Letters, 2005
We study diffusion of charged nanoparticles in a temperature gradient and derive the corresponding Ludwig-Soret transport coefficient. Charge effects are found to enhance thermodiffusion by up to 2 orders of magnitude. We show that the inverse Soret coefficient 1/S(T) is a linear function of the colloid density n; the proportionality factor, or second ...

Photochemistry in Micelles

1985
Organic photochemical reactions conducted in micellar solutions are reviewed from the standpoint of systematizing and correlating published results. Five common effects are found to distinguish and characterize micellar photochemistry relative to conventional solution photochemistry: “super” cage effects, local concentration effects, viscosity effects,

Micelles

Nanomicelles display distinct or unique characteristics due to their dimension, the ability to dissolve, tailored surface, or interaction with the environment. These features render them versatile and beneficial across various domains, particularly applications in biology.

A phosphate-induced sub-micelle-micelle equilibrium in reconstituted casein micelle systems

Journal of Dairy Research, 1979
SUMMARYIn reconstituted casein systems, complete sub-micelles were previously observed only under extreme conditions of ionic strength, namely a NaCl concentration of 2 M or greater. However, studies with the analytical ultracentrifuge on phosphate-containing casein systems revealed that under certain conditions, a stable sub-micelle-micelle ...

Coexistence of small micelles with large micelles

The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1988

Micelles and microemulsions

Annual Review of Physical Chemistry, 1992
We have shown that there is a close relationship between the surfactant film properties, the bulk structures, the interfacial tension with oil (or water) and even the dynamic properties in micellar and microemulsion systems. The evolution from spherical micelles to tubular, cubic, lamellar or sponge phases is now qualitatively well understood.
