Compact Michelson Interferometers with Subpicometer Sensitivity
The network of interferometric gravitational-wave observatories has successfully detected tens of astrophysical signals since 2015. In this paper, we experimentally investigate compact sensors that have the potential to improve the sensitivity of gravitational-wave detectors to intermediate-mass black holes.

In this study, which was conducted using the combustion method, the luminescence intensity strongly depended on Tb3+ concentration in the 1–7 wt% range, highlighting the critical role of activator concentration in optimizing optical performance. The strongest green emission, corresponding to the 5D4 → 7F5 transition at 545 nm, was observed at 5 wt% Tb3+

This work demonstrates a high‐fidelity stability transfer from an optical reference to a high‐repetition‐rate microcomb using a mode‐locked laser bridge. By employing electro‐optic sampling timing detection, femtosecond‐level synchronization and 10−18‐level fractional frequency stability are achieved.

A Dialogue on Revolutions and Revolutionaries in Science: A Perspective From Quantum Mechanics
ABSTRACT We discuss the notions of scientific revolutions and revolutionaries in the context of the Relativity Revolution and of the First, Second, and Third Quantum Revolutions. We conclude that at the core of the question of what qualifies as a revolution and revolutionary is an assessment of the gradients of knowledge accumulation over time, both at

Optimization of a field-widened Michelson interferometer [PDF]
This paper considers the optical design of a wide-angle fixed-path Michelson interferometer consisting of two arm glasses and an air gap. It is shown that this configuration can be optimized to give (a) extra large fringes (over 50 degrees in diameter) over a range of wavelength, (b) a path difference nearly independent of wavelength, or (c) a path ...

Noise Resilient Real‐Time Phase Imaging via Undetected Light
Quantum imaging with undetected light enables decoupled illumination and detection, but real‐time operation under strong noise conditions remains challenging. By combining nonlinear interferometry with off‐axis holography, this work demonstrates real‐time amplitude and phase imaging at up to 4 Hz, even when noise exceeds the signal by an order of ...

Time‐Resolved SNOM via Phase‐Domain Sampling
Time‐resolved scanning near‐field optical microscopy (tr‐SNOM) grants access to the dynamic dielectric function of monolayer and multilayer WS2, using visible wavelengths. In order to use a femtosecond laser with a repetition rate of 200 kHz, the signal is sampled and demodulated in the modulation phase domain, marking the first realization of tr‐SNOM ...
