Journal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2026.The photochemistry of ethyl 2‐diazo‐3,3,3‐trifluoropropanoate shows that its excited singlet state undergoes internal conversion, carbene formation, and diazirine formation. The resulting singlet carbene reacts through solvent‐dependent pathways, forming ylides in methanol and acetonitrile or a C–Cl insertion product in chloroform.
