Micro-Discharge Micro-Thruster

41st AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit, 2005
This paper summarizes the experiments and analysis of the micro-discharge micro- thruster developed jointly by Ewing Technology Associates and the University of Washington. The key experimental result has been the demonstration of a sustained discharge in a very simple micro-discharge type of structure (aperture ~ 300 micron) under demanding flow ...

Diagnostics of PDP micro-discharges

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2006
Plasma display panel emission measurements are correlated with panel efficacy trends, and directions for the improvement of the discharge efficiency are derived. An increase of the ratio of the phosphor emission in the visible to the Xe emission in the infrared indicates an increased Xe excitation efficiency.

High‐efficiency PDP micro‐discharges

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2005
Abstract— High‐efficiency plasma‐display‐panel micro‐discharge characteristics will be discussed. An increase in the discharge efficiency for a higher‐Xe‐content gas mixture is well known. In this article, the interdependency of the capacitive design, the sustain voltage, and the Xe content will be discussed.

An Ultrahigh Current Density Micro Discharge

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2011
At atmospheric pressure, a micro thin-cathode discharge operates in a self-pulsing mode with a peak current density of several 105 A/cm2. The V-I characteristic of the discharge indicates that the self-pulsing is due to a periodic ignition of a spark discharge. In the self-pulsing mode, the plasma emission was observed by a CCD camera. The camera image

Rapid measurement of micro discharging gap

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
There is micro discharging gap to be measured between negative electrode and positive electrode in precise micro electrical discharging machining. The state of the discharging gap is complex and variable. There are many factors which have effects on the state.

Plasma display panel with micro-discharge array

Optoelectronics Letters, 2005
A novel discharge device is designed on the basis of the configuration of micro-hollow cathode discharge (MHCD). By using many MHCDs in parallel connection, a micro-discharge array can be constructed. With the micro-discharge array, a high-pressure high-current density glow discharge plasmas can be formed to make a plasma display panel (PDP).

Pulsed micro-discharge ambient ionization mass spectrometry

International Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2018
Abstract A method named pulsed micro-discharge ambient ionization mass spectrometry (PMD-AIMS) was developed for direct surface analysis with simple apparatus. In PMD-AIMS, micro-discharges is generated between a copper plate and a tungsten needle with pulsed high voltage applied, in which the analyte on the surface of copper plate is desorbed and ...

Breakdown modes in nanosecond pulsed micro-discharges at atmospheric pressure

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2023
Abstract Nanosecond pulse micro-discharges at atmospheric pressure have garnered attention because of their unique physics and numerous applications. In this study, we employed a one-dimensional particle-in-cell/Monte Carlo collision model coupled with an external circuit, using an unequal weight algorithm to investigate the breakdown ...
