Ionization coefficients for argon in a micro-discharge
Plasma Sources Science and Technology, 2013Ionization coefficients are measured for electrons in a dc micro-discharge in argon from optical emission profiles. The micro-discharge is operated in the Townsend regime between two parallel-plate electrodes. Axial profiles of emission are obtained with sufficient resolution to provide spatial ionization coefficients.

The generation and application of micro discharge plasmas
IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. 1999 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science. 26th IEEE International Conference (Cat. No.99CH36297), 2003Summary form only given. The dielectric barrier discharge lamp has been developed and commercially supplied as a tunable UV light source. However, a high-voltage (over several tens of kilovolts) is required to drive the device. We have attempted to reduce the driving voltages without reducing the light intensity by using new types of micro discharge ...

Micro-discharge at strip edge of silicon microstrip sensors
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1996Abstract We have investigated the micro-discharge (micro-breakdown) phenomenon which is potentially a serious problem in operating in a high radiation environment. Numerical calculation of field strength for the model structure of the microstrip sensor gives us a quantitative understanding of each different cause of micro-discharge.

Influence of swarming pulsive micro discharge on tree degradation
Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2003Electrical treeing is one of the problems with insulating polymer materials. Therefore, much research of treeing has been carried out. One object of these researches is to investigate SPMD (swarming pulsive micro discharge). Pulse discharges decrease and disappear before tree initiation. It is considered that SPMD occurs by some factors in the void. In

Micro-discharge and electric breakdown in a micro-gap
Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering, 2000Very weak light emission due to micro-discharges in the micro-gap of an electrostatic actuator under a high electric field can be imaged using a highly sensitive CCD camera. In this paper, we focus, in particular, on the relation between the micro-discharge and the electric field breakdown.

A micro-discharge photoionization detector for micro-gas chromatography
Microchimica Acta, 2013We report on a small (20 × 10 mm) micromachined device for the detection of gases in micro-gas chromatography (GC). It incorporates a micro-discharge across a 20-μm gap, and a remote electrode in the micro cavity that generates an electrical signal corresponding to the photo-ionization of gaseous analytes in a stream of carrier gas.

Numerical study of electrical characteristics in RF micro discharge
2015 4th International Conference on Systems and Control (ICSC), 2015In this paper, a numerical study of electrical characteristics is investigated for a argon micro discharge generated by a radio- frequency excitation (13.56 MHz) at high pressure (100Torr) and low voltage (150V). The results show that the rf voltage is responsible for the increase of plasma potential. Moreover, we found that the rise of gas temperature

Micro-discharge and surface flashover of insulators in vacuum
1999 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (Cat. No.99CH36319), 2003Recently surface flashover phenomena of insulators in vacuum were investigated with an impulse voltage (0.7/4 /spl mu/s). The test samples studied were 99.9% alumina specimens. The impulse voltage, current and luminosity waveforms were observed whether a flashover occurred or not.

Temporal Behaviour of Micro-discharge in Dielectric Barrier Discharges
Chinese Physics Letters, 2002A special dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) device consisting of two water electrodes has been designed. The temporal behaviour of the micro-discharge (filament) in the DBD in air at atmospheric pressure is measured by using an optical method. The nonsymmetrical characteristic of the filament has been discovered for the first time.
