Hydrogen production in Ar/NH/sub 3/ micro-discharges

The 33rd IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, 2006. ICOPS 2006. IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts., 2006
Summary form only given. Microdischarges (MDs) are being investigated for a variety of applications including hydrogen production for portable fuel cells, microreactors and displays. In portable fuel applications, major system issues include development of practical and safe methods to produce H2 with low lag-times.

A Novel Method for Manufacturing of Micro-Discharge Devices

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2002
Abstract In this paper, atmospheric plasma spraying is used to produce metal-insulator-metal structures that emit ultraviolet light via electrical discharge when sufficient voltage is applied. The metal layers are sprayed with molybdenum alloy powders and the insulator, a 50 to 100 μm dielectric layer, is sprayed with zirconia powder ...

Time-resolved imaging of nanosecond-pulsed micro-discharges in heptane

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2013
Nanosecond-pulsed micro-discharges in heptane are studied by time-resolved imaging in pin-to-plate configuration. When a voltage of +5?kV is applied to the pin electrode, the discharge exhibits one maximum in light intensity. At +15?kV, filtered images show that up to three maxima can be identified.

Influence of swarming pulsive micro discharge on the tree degradation

2000 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (Cat. No.00CH37132), 2002
An experimental investigation has been performed to analyze influence of swarming pulsive micro discharge (SPMD) on tree degradation process. The discharge magnitude and luminous image at several phase angle areas of applied voltage were measured using an original measurement system.

20.1: Micro‐discharge Arrays for High Resolution Plasma Display Panel

SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2005
Abstract Arrays of microplasma devices, fabricated in a photodefinable glass and driven ac or dc by interdigitated electrodes outside the microcavities, have been fabricated and characterized. Operating in the abnormal glow mode for Ne pressures between 200 and 900 Torr and having cross‐sectional dimensions of 75 ...

Glow-like atmospheric pressure micro-discharges produced by charge rollers

2013 Abstracts IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS), 2013
Summary form only given. Conductive charge rollers (CR) are used in print engines for surface charging of the cylindrical photoconductor (PC) at atmospheric pressure. The charging process is essentially a dielectric-barrier-discharge (DBD). Microplasmas are produced in the narrowing gap between the CR and PC, which then charges the PC.

Interaction of micro-discharges in heptane with metallic multi-layers

Applied Surface Science, 2013
Interaction of discharges in heptane with magnetron-sputtered thin films made of aluminum, copper or iron is studied in a pin-to-plate configuration. The behavior of discharges on thin films can be used to better understand the interaction of discharges with given surfaces and it might also improve the reproducibility of the impacts in order to better ...

Micro-discharge noise and radiation damage of silicon microstrip sensors

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1996
Abstract We have examined experimentally some existing ideas for improving the radiation hardness of silicon microstrip sensors. We confirm that the extended electrode and the deep implant-strip proposed on the basis of simulation studies works effectively to suppress micro-discharge as well as junction breakdown of the bias or guard ring.
