The evidence of cathodic micro-discharges during plasma electrolytic oxidation of light metallic alloys and micro-discharge intensity depending on pH of the electrolyte

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2015
Abstract Plasma electrolytic oxidation processing of aluminum and magnesium alloys has been carried out in alkaline electrolyte. High probability of cathodic plasma micro-discharge realization in this electrolyte is pointed out. It is determined that it is possible to control the energy which is released in anodic and cathodic micro-discharges ...

Diagnostics of PDP micro-discharges

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2006
Plasma display panel emission measurements are correlated with panel efficacy trends, and directions for the improvement of the discharge efficiency are derived. An increase of the ratio of the phosphor emission in the visible to the Xe emission in the infrared indicates an increased Xe excitation efficiency.

High‐efficiency PDP micro‐discharges

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2005
Abstract— High‐efficiency plasma‐display‐panel micro‐discharge characteristics will be discussed. An increase in the discharge efficiency for a higher‐Xe‐content gas mixture is well known. In this article, the interdependency of the capacitive design, the sustain voltage, and the Xe content will be discussed.

Interaction of micro-discharges in heptane with metallic multi-layers

Applied Surface Science, 2013
Interaction of discharges in heptane with magnetron-sputtered thin films made of aluminum, copper or iron is studied in a pin-to-plate configuration. The behavior of discharges on thin films can be used to better understand the interaction of discharges with given surfaces and it might also improve the reproducibility of the impacts in order to better ...

Time-resolved imaging of nanosecond-pulsed micro-discharges in heptane

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2013
Nanosecond-pulsed micro-discharges in heptane are studied by time-resolved imaging in pin-to-plate configuration. When a voltage of +5?kV is applied to the pin electrode, the discharge exhibits one maximum in light intensity. At +15?kV, filtered images show that up to three maxima can be identified.
