New porous medium Poisson-Nernst-Planck equations for strongly oscillating electric potentials

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the Poisson-Nernst-Planck system which is well-accepted for describing dilute electrolytes as well as transport of charged species in homogeneous environments.

Reconfigurable Three‐Dimensional Superconducting Nanoarchitectures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
3D superconducting nanostructures offer new possibilities for emergent physical phenomena. However, fabricating complex geometries remains challenging. Here 3D nanoprinting of complex 3D superconducting nanoarchitectures is established. As well as propagating superconducting vortices in 3D, anisotropic superconducting properties with geometric ...

Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Surface Textures in Vibration-Assisted Micro Milling

open access: yesMicromachines
Vibration-assisted micro milling is a promising technique for fabricating engineered mi-cro-scaled surface textures. This paper presents a novel approach for theoretical modeling of three-dimensional (3D) surface textures produced by vibration-assisted ...

The Micro-Geometry Evaluation on Steel Sheets after Chemical Surface Treatment

open access: yesTechnological Engineering, 2013
Abstract The protection of metal materials by coatings is one of the most important way to protect the surface against corrosion. Galvanisation of metal surfaces by an electric current is one of the most frequent way of surface treatment due to its wide application. The paper is oriented to the evaluation of the surface quality in terms

Composition and Resulting Band Alignment at the TiO2/InP Heterointerface: A Fundamental Study Combining Photoemission Spectroscopy and Theory

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The chemical composition and band alignment are systematically investigated at the TiO2/InP heterointerface. Thin TiO2 films are deposited by ALD on atomically ordered, P‐terminated p‐InP(100). By combining UPS, XPS, and ab initio molecular dynamics, the atomistic structure and electronic alignment are revealed.

Reduction of gear pair transmission error with tooth profile modification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The gear noise problem that widely occurs in power transmission systems is typically characterised by one or more high amplitude acoustic signals. The noise originates from the vibration of the gear pair system caused by transmission error excitation ...

The Influence of Annealing on the Sb Layer in the Synthesis of [001]‐Oriented Sb2Se3 Film for Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Gas Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
[001]‐oriented Sb2Se3 film with improved crystallinity and adjusted composition is achieved via a new thermal treatment approach consisting of preliminary annealing of the Sb layer before its selenization. The findings of this work demonstrate enhanced charge carriers' transportation, a stable performance, and an improvement of H2 generation from ...

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...
