Multi-scale interaction of flow and the artery wall [PDF]
We discuss, from the perspective of basic science, the physical and biological processes which underlie atherosclerotic (plaque) initiation at the vascular endothelium, identifying their widely separated spatial and temporal scales which participate.

Effect of Surface Texturing on Friction and Film Thickness under Starved Lubrication Conditions [PDF]

A previously unreported coordination motif stabilising single Fe atoms by indigo chelation and pyridyl coordination on Au(111) has been revealed. By using planar tritopic pyridyl linkers (TPyB), extended 2D porous networks of indigo3(TPyB)2Fe6 form. These networks can be crystalline or vitreous and offer an environment where individual coordination ...

Continuous optimization method of micro geometry for unparallel beveloid gears
To enhance the bearing capacity and minimize the loaded transmission error for unparallel beveloid gears, a continuous optimization method of micro geometry is proposed. Considering that the conjugate characteristic of tooth surfaces is destroyed by misalignments and modification, an unload contact analysis model is first developed.

This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...
