Micro-geometry of surfaces subjected simultaneously to preliminary and final grinding

open access: yesScience intensive technologies in mechanical engineering, 2019
A process of flat periphery grinding with an integrated tool is considered ensuring simultaneously a preliminary and final processing of parts. A multi-factor model of ground surface micro-geometry is defined allowing the control of cutting modes to ensure required roughness.

Correctors for the Neumann problem in thin domains with locally periodic oscillatory structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we are concerned with convergence of solutions of the Poisson equation with Neumann boundary conditions in a two-dimensional thin domain exhibiting highly oscillatory behavior in part of its boundary. We deal with the resonant case in which

Microporous Microgel Assemblies Facilitating the Recruitment and Osteogenic Differentiation of Progenitor Cells for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
There is a significant need for biomaterials with well‐defined stability and bioactivity to support tissue regeneration. In this study, we developed a tunable microgel platform that enables the decoupling of stiffness from porosity, thereby promoting bone regeneration.

Direct simulation Monte Carlo method for gas flows in micro-channels with bends with added curvature

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
Gas flows in micro-channels are simulated using an open source Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) code dsmcFOAM for general application to rarefied gas flow written within the framework of the open source C++ toolbox called OpenFOAM.

Reevaluating the Activity of ZIF‐8 Based FeNCs for Electrochemical Ammonia Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Though receiving much attention, the field of electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) to ammonia is marked by doubts about whether this reaction is possible in aqueous media. This work sheds light on this question for iron single‐atom on N‐doped carbon (FeNC) catalysts—a class of well‐known catalysts that is also worth testing for the sister
