The strain hardening of micro-sized face-centered-cubic single crystal metals: A crystal plasticity study

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
Recent experimental and theoretical studies indicate the “external geometry” and “internal structure” are the controlling factors to characterize the size-dependent plastic flow for micro-sized single crystal metals.

Micropatterned Biphasic Printed Electrodes for High‐Fidelity on‐Skin Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Micropatterned biphasic printed electrodes achieve unprecedented skin conformity and low impedance by combining liquid‐metal droplets with microstructured 3D lattices. This scalable approach enables high‐fidelity detection of ECG, EMG, and EEG signals, including alpha rhythms from the forehead, with long‐term comfort and stability.

From conventional to bioinspired: Evolution of tail surface designs in micro air vehicles

open access: yesResults in Engineering
The paper presents the evolution of the tail surface design of a micro air vehicle based on adaptive wing geometry. The initial prototype was conceived as a tailless aircraft geometry, waiting for future innovations and stability augmentations.

Quality control of the electro-discharge texturing [PDF]

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2010
This paper deals with quality control of the electro-discharge texturing. Automobile manufacturers have strict requirements for micro-geometry parameters of rolled metal plates from contractors of body sheet metal.

Micro-geometry Effects on the Nonlinear Effective Yield Strength Response of Magnetorheological Fluids

open access: yes, 2021
We use the novel constitutive model in [15], derived using the homogenization method, to investigate the effect particle chain microstructures have on the properties of the magnetorheological fluid. The model allows to compute the constitutive coefficients for different geometries.

Implementation of a Discrete Element Method for the space-time modeling of loading in the case of a soft shock: qualitative approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study is to modelize the space-time loading induced on a target by a deformable impactor, in the case of a ”soft” shock. The originality of this work resides in the use of discrete elements to model the behaviour of the impactor, where ...

Control and ultrasonic actuation of a gas-liquid interface in a microfluidic chip

open access: yes, 2009
This article describes the design and manufacturing of a microfluidic chip, allowing for the actuation of a gas-liquid interface and of the neighboring fluid. A first way to control the interface motion is to apply a pressure difference across it.

Kinetic Insights into Precursor‐Assisted Soft Sphere Close Packing Revealed by In Situ GISAXS with Implications for Gas Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The versatile precursor‐assisted soft sphere close packing during slot‐die coating is investigated with in situ X‐ray scattering. The soft crystallization pathways towards a close packing involve multistep structural transitions such as surface nucleation, in‐plane, and out‐of‐plane crystallization.

Non-crimp fabric permeability modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A qualitative study to the in-plane permeability modelling of Non-Crimp\ud Fabrics has been carried out. A network flow model was developed to describe flow through\ud inter bundle channels (meso level).
