Biphasic micro-LED driver for optogenetics

2016 IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems Conference (BioCAS), 2016
Optogenetics is a gene-therapy technique which utilizes high radiance light to stimulate the genetically modified nerve cells. An optical delivery method in brain tissue for optogenetics can be performed using incorporated micro-LEDs. Optrode lifespan can be affected by the electrodes degradation caused by the generated charges over the tissue after ...

Development of Micro-LEDs and Applications

2019 IEEE Photonics Conference (IPC), 2019
Since our invention in 2000 [1–4], microLED has emerged as a promising technology for a range of applications. MicroLED can provide much higher brightness levels than those of LCD and OLEDs. Therefore, microLED arrays are ideal for self-emissive microdisplays [3–9] and ultrahigh brightness and resolution large flat panel displays [9].

Efficient GaN-based Micro-LED Arrays

MRS Proceedings, 2002
ABSTRACTHighly efficient, two-dimensional arrays of parallel-addressed InGaN blue microLEDs with individual element diameters of 8, 12 and 20μm have been fabricated. In order to overcome the difficulty of interconnecting multiple device elements with sufficient step-height coverage for contact metallisation, a novel scheme involving the etching of ...

Fluorescence imaging device with an ultra-thin micro-LED

2017 IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems Conference (BioCAS), 2017
In this work, we designed and fabricated an image sensor with an ultra-thin light-emitting diode (LED). The chip has areas with a metal shield for LEDs. An ultra-thin LED fabricated using the laser lift-off technique was mounted on the chip. Excitation and emission filters based on absorption dye were applied to the LED and the pixel array.

Optical spatial modulation OFDM using micro LEDs

2014 48th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2014
This paper investigates the performance of optical spatial modulation (OSM) with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) based visible light communication (VLC) system. Gallium nitride micro light emitting diodes (μLEDs) are used as transmitters. The performance of the OSM-OFDM system is analyzed
