18.5: High Performance Transparent Micro‐LED Display

SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2022
We developed a 9.38‐inch transparent Micro‐LED display with 114 PPI and 70% transmittance. The prototype display shows high transmittance and high brightness through innovative pixel design layout and film layer stacking structure.

Unidirectional-emitting GaN-based micro-LED for 3D display

Optics Letters, 2021
Naked-eye 3D micro-LED display combines the 3D characteristics and advantages of micro-LED simultaneously. A conventional micro-LED device emission exhibits Lambertian distribution, and it requires stacking of multiple optical components into a 3D display, resulting in bulky systems, low efficiency, and a limited viewing zone and points. We propose and

Pixel crosstalk in naked-eye micro-LED 3D display

Applied Optics, 2021
Micro-LED display is considered to be the most promising display technology, and naked-eye 3D display represents the most advanced frontier of display. Naked-eye 3D micro-LED display has both the advantages of micro-LED display and the characteristics of naked-eye 3D display. Only conceptual solutions for 3D micro-LED display have been reported so far.

Micro LED displays: technology and manufacturing challenges

Novel Patterning Technologies 2021, 2021
Manufacturing cost is the highest risk for μLED displays. μLED display cost is composed of backplane and frontplane costs. Backplane cost may be similar to OLED displays. The major cost contributors for frontplane are epitaxy, transfer, and defect management.

High performance color‐converted micro‐LED displays

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2019
AbstractA full‐color micro‐LED display can be achieved by red, green, and blue (RGB) chips or by a blue/ultraviolet (UV) micro‐LED array to pump downconverters. The latter helps relieve the burden of epitaxial growth of tri‐color micro‐LED chips. However, such a color‐converted micro‐LED system usually suffers from color crosstalk and low efficiency ...

9.4‐inch 228‐ppi flexible micro‐LED display

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2021
AbstractA 9.4‐inch 228‐ppi full‐color micro‐LED display using the flexible low temperature polysilicon thin‐film transistor (LTPS‐TFT) backplane has been successfully developed. In order to solve the interconnection of tiny micro‐LEDs, those size are less than 30 μm, we introduced the flip‐chip soldering technology for high‐resolution flexible micro ...
