Design and Experimental Investigations of Shape and Attitude Carding System for the Wires of Micro Coreless Motor Winding

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
The shape and attitude (S&A) of the electrode wire are important characteristics of micro coreless motor winding. The purpose of this paper is to present the design of a robotic micro-manipulation system for micro wire carding with arbitrary S&A, which ...

Rolled up si-based three dimensional micro-/nanostructures for MEMS/NEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Recently, by combination of the “top down” and “bottom up” approaches, a new strategy to fabricate 3D micro-/nanostructures named self-scrolling technique has been introduced by Prinz et al. in 1999.

Impedance control of redundant macro-micro manipulators

open access: yesProceedings of IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS'94), 1994
An impedance control scheme of redundant macro micro manipulators is proposed. In this control scheme, we can specify not only the desired mechanical impedance of the end effector, but also that of the macro manipulator by considering the internal force applied at the top of the macro manipulator.

Spin dynamics and Griffiths singularity in the random quantum Ising magnet PrTiNbO6

open access: yesnpj Quantum Materials, 2021
In crystalline magnets, interaction randomness is usually thought as a negative factor preventing interesting quantum phenomena to occur. However, intriguing interplay between randomness and quantumness can also leads to unique phenomena in the strongly ...

Path Planning for 3-D In-Hand Manipulation of Micro-Objects Using Rotation Decomposition

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
Robotic manipulation and assembly of micro and nanocomponents in confined spaces is still a challenge. Indeed, the current proposed solutions that are highly inspired by classical industrial robotics are not currently able to combine precision ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.
