E-scooters on the Ground: Lessons for Redesigning Urban Micro-Mobility
International Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2020The worldwide deployment of rental electric scooters has generated new opportunities for urban mobility, but also intensified conflict over public space. This article reports on an ethnographic study of both rental and privately-owned e-scooters, mapping

Development of micro mobile machine with wheels
MHS'95. Proceedings of the Sixth International Symposium on Micro Machine and Human Science, 2002We have developed two types of micro mobile machine with wheels made up of two electromagnetic ultrasmall motors and four wheels. One is a wired type of size of less than 10 mm/spl times/10 mm/spl times/10 mm. The energy and control signal is supplied through the electric wire.

Seamless Mobility Mechanisms for Micro Mobile MPLS
IEICE Transactions on Communications, 2009Efficient mobility management is one of the most important challenges in mobile networks. Since roaming between wireless cells can cause long handoff latency and high packet loss, it can result in poor quality of services for delay-sensitive applications and for applications requiring reliable transmission.

Integration of macro and micro mobility protocols
2009 First International Communication Systems and Networks and Workshops, 2009The success of next generation wireless networks will rely much on advanced mechanisms for seamless mobility support among emerging heterogeneous technologies. Currently, Mobile IP is the most promising solution for mobility management in the Internet. Several IP micro mobility approaches have been proposed to enhance the performance of Mobile IP which

Micro mobile robots using electromagnetic oscillatory actuator
2012 4th IEEE RAS & EMBS International Conference on Biomedical Robotics and Biomechatronics (BioRob), 2012In this paper, we propose a compact electromagnetic oscillatory actuator and its applications to three different micro robots such as tadpole robot, 2-legged robot and 4-legged robot. The electromagnetic oscillatory actuator has a simple structure composed of cores and coils. The oscillatory motion of the actuator is theoretically analyzed.

Shared micro-mobility and transport equity
Shared micro-mobility services (e.g., shared bikes/e-bikes/e-scooters) have the potential to facilitate transport equity by offering available travel modes for transport disadvantaged groups. The achievement of this goal requires disadvantaged people to be able to use and benefit from shared micro-mobility equally compared with others.Guan, Xiaodong +4 more
