Micro-optical crossconnect switch
SPIE Proceedings, 2004A novel micro-optical crossconnect switch based on the use of diffractive optical elements is introduced. A set of micro-actuated diffractive optical elements are used to reshape the optical beam as well as establish the interconnection required between two arrays of input and output optical fibers.

Increasing miniaturization is required in many domains of optical instrumentation, such as in the development of endoscopic devices. In combination with coherent metrology, especially holographic interferometry, a new class of minute instruments can be developed for high-resolving, non-contactive, non-destructive intra-cavity measurements.
