Thermodynamic analysis of supercritical carbon dioxide cycle using waste heat of V18 MAN 51/60DF engine

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
Integration of the micro S‐CO2 cycle with V18 MAN 51/60DF engines in powerships for waste heat recovery enhances energy efficiency and sustainability. The system utilizes 374.4 kW of waste heat, achieving 21.8% energy efficiency and 9.7% exergy efficiency, with a net work output of 54.11 kW.

A Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Inverted Wings Modifications on the Stability and Aerodynamic Performance of a Sedan Car at Cornering

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
ABSTRACT This research examines the impact of cornering on the aerodynamic forces and stability of a Nissan Versa (Almera) passenger sedan car by introducing novel modifications. These modifications included single inverted wings with end plates as a front spoiler, double‐element inverted wings with end plates as a rear spoiler, and incorporating the ...

Computational Investigation of the Performance Enhancement of SR3 Propeller With Swirl Recovery Vanes

open access: yesModelling and Simulation in Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
A rotor in motion transfers energy to the fluid, comprising not only the essential axial component but also a rotating segment that contributes to propeller thrust. This study scrutinizes the effects of integrating swirl recovery vanes (SRVs) with the eight‐bladed SR3 rotor for transonic flows in a tractor prop configuration, examining setups both with

High-temperature, flexible, thermal barrier seal [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
This device seals the sliding interfaces between structural panels that are roughly perpendicular to each other or whose edges are butted against one another. The nonuniformity of the gap between the panels requires significant flexibility along the seal

Very high cycle fatigue of fiber‐reinforced polymer composites: Uniaxial ultrasonic fatigue

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 47, Issue 9, Page 3083-3115, September 2024.
Abstract This review explores uniaxial ultrasonic fatigue (USF) testing as a common and dependable method for quantifying the extended fatigue life of fiber‐reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. The objective is to explain the complexities governing the fatigue life behavior of FRPs, particularly in the realm of very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) where the ...

Novel technique of vibration minimization during hard machining

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2024.
This research study examines the performance of electrorheological fluids, also referred to as smart fluids, which have gained popularity because they instantly alter when exposed to an external magnetic or electric field. When high voltage is applied, the ER fluid quickly changes from a viscous liquid to a semisolid state, which is reversible.

The proof of concept of uninterrupted push‐pull electromagnetic propulsion and energy conversion systems for drones and planet landers

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 6, Issue 1, January 2024.
We present a proof of concept to demonstrate the capability of a newly invented variable speed push‐pull electromagnetic propulsion system for uninterruptedly generating the reciprocating motion of a magnetic‐piston by a solar battery‐driven polarity changer timing circuit together with a laser‐based timing circuit for redundancy.

Damage and Failure of Aeroengine Blades Under Small UAV Impacts

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) may collide with vulnerable parts of other aircrafts, such as engine blades, causing accidents. The research on small UAV impact is limited. Besides, UAV impact with propeller and rotor blades is poorly understood. In this paper, a finite element (FE) model of a UAV with a weight of 4.78 kg, turbofan blades, propeller ...
