Meta-heuristic algorithms in car engine design: a literature survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Meta-heuristic algorithms are often inspired by natural phenomena, including the evolution of species in Darwinian natural selection theory, ant behaviors in biology, flock behaviors of some birds, and annealing in metallurgy.

Biomimetic Wings for Micro Air Vehicles

open access: yesBiomimetics
In this work, micro air vehicles (MAVs) equipped with bio-inspired wings are investigated experimentally in wind tunnel. The starting point is that insects such as dragonflies, butterflies and locusts have wings with rigid tubular elements (corrugation) connected by flexible parts (profiling).

Development of an Insect-like Flapping-Wing Micro Air Vehicle with Parallel Control Mechanism

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Most traditional flapping-wing micro air vehicles (FMAVs) adopt a serial control mechanism, which means that one drive corresponds to one degree of freedom.

An analysis of the efficiency of the functional matching between a flying wing MAV airframe and different types of micro propellers [PDF]

open access: yesINCAS Bulletin, 2011
This paper aims to present specific methods for optimizing the design of micro propellersfor small Reynolds numbers. In order to better understand the aim of this contribution, the effects of amicro propeller on the aerodynamic surfaces of a micro air ...

Hybrid micro air vehicle for complex environment missions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Modern urban reconnaissance missions dictate the need for a Micro Air Vehicle (MAV) platform capable of performing a complex mission : rapid and efficient ingress to a target location followed by slow loiter for quality image capture.

The Energy Benefits of the Pantograph Wing Mechanism in Flapping Flight: Case Study of a Gull [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Bird wings generally contain a 4-bar pantograph mechanism in the forearm that enables the wrist joint to be actuated from the elbow joint thus reducing the number of wing muscles and hence reducing the wing inertia and inertial drag.

Design of Wing Root Rotation Mechanism for Dragonfly-Inspired Micro Air Vehicle

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
This paper proposes a wing root control mechanism inspired by the drag-based system of a dragonfly. The previous mechanisms for generating wing rotations have high controllability of the angle of attack, but the structures are either too complex or too ...

A Smart Bio‐Battery Facilitates Diabetic Bone Defect Repair Via Inducing Macrophage Reprogramming and Synergistically Modulating Bone Remodeling Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel implantable bio‐battery, GF‐OsG, tailored for diabetic bone repair. GF‐OsG generates microcurrents in high‐glucose conditions to enhance vascularization, shift macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and regulate immune responses.
