Evaporating Interface in a Capillary Tube With High Heat Flux Induced by Micro Diffusion Flame
Heat Transfer: Volume 3, 2008A series of experiments was conducted to understand the combustion characteristics and evaporating interface behavior of liquid fuel in capillary tubes. The flame shape, interface location of fuel front and tube outer surface temperature was visually observed and measured using CCD and IR camera, respectively.

An experimental study is conducted on a laminar diffusion flame established over a 50 mm x 50 mm x 10 mm slab of PMMA subject to a forced oxidizer flow parallel to the surface. The parameters varied are the oxygen concentration, the forced flow velociry and the length of pyrolyzing fuel.

Convection-Diffusion Controlled Laminar Micro Flames
Journal of Heat Transfer, 1994Small laminar diffusion flames (flame height ≃2–3 mm) established by a fuel jet issuing into a quiescent medium are investigated. It was found that for these flames buoyancy effects disappeared as the flame size decreased (Fr≫1), and diffusive transport of the fuel was comparable to the convective transport of the fuel.

Laminar diffusion flames under micro-gravity conditions
26th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1988Laminar methane and propane gas-jet diffusion flames have been theoretically and experimentally studied at NASA-Lewis under microgravity conditions. It is noted that laminar diffusion flames are strongly affected by the combined effects of kinetics, radiation, and such transient phenomena as flame ignition, stabilization, and extinction.
