Flame base structures of micro-jet hydrogen/methane diffusion flames

Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2017
Abstract In this study, a comparison of flame base structures of hydrogen/methane–air diffusion flames formed over a tiny-jet is made numerically for both isothermal and thermal conductive burner conditions, in order to clarify the fuel dependent flame stabilization mechanisms.

Effect of hydrogen addition on the structure and stabilization of a micro-jet methane diffusion flame

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2021
Abstract The micro-jet diffusion flame can act as the heat source for the micro power generation systems due to some advantages. The present work investigates the effect of hydrogen addition on the structure and stabilization of micro-jet methane diffusion flame by numerical simulation.

A numerical investigation in buoyancy effects on micro jet diffusion flame

Journal of Central South University, 2020
The buoyancy effect on micro hydrogen jet flames in still air was numerially studied. The results show that when the jet velocity is relatively large (V≥0.2 m/s), the flame height, width and temperature decrease, whereas the peak OH mass fraction increases significantly under normal gravity (g=9.8 m/s2).

A numerical study on extinction behaviour of laminar micro-diffusion flames

Combustion Theory and Modelling, 2006
We conducted a numerical study on the fluid dynamic, thermal and chemical structures of laminar methane–air micro flames established under quiescent atmospheric conditions. The micro flame is defined as a flame on the order of one millimetre or less established at the exit of a vertically-aligned straight tube.

Combustion and heat release characteristics of hydrogen/air diffusion flame on a micro-jet array burner

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2018
Abstract Hydrogen (H2) is considered as a carbon-free alternative fuel. The heat release characteristics of H2 flame as a key parameter in its combustion process are unclear. In this study, the combustion and heat release characteristics of H2/air diffusion flame on a micro-jet array burner were experimentally and numerically investigated.

Characteristic visualization of the micro/mesoscale liquid ethanol diffusion flame by using deflection tomography

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2018
Abstract The micro/mesoscale combustion system of liquid ethanol and the visualization measurement system of flame were designed and constructed on the basis of the microscale combustion theory of liquid fuels. The characteristics of the micro/mesoscale liquid ethanol diffusion flame were investigated experimentally.

Experimental investigation on the scale effects on diffusion H2/air flames in Y-shaped micro-combustors

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2019
Abstract In the present study, characteristics of diffusion H2-air flame in three Y-shaped cylindrical micro-combustors with a diameter of d = 1, 2 and 3 mm were investigated experimentally. The mixture was ignited near the exit of a 200-mm long horizontal channel.
