Influence of Forming Parameters on the Mechanical Behavior of a Thin Aluminum Sheet Processed through Single Point Incremental Forming

open access: yes, 2020
Incremental sheet forming (ISF) is an economical process for batch production. This paper investigates post-forming mechanical properties with an emphasis on the relationship between residual stresses, strengths, micro-hardness and the strain-hardening ...

Laser based micro forming and assembly. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
It has been shown that thermal energy imparted to a metallic substrate by laser heating induces a transient temperature gradient through the thickness of the sample.

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Micro-lateral extrusion of Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 bulk metallic glass under low-frequency vibration loading

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
The effect of vibration on the micro-forming ability of Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 bulk metallic glass in its supercooled liquid region was studied. The experiment of micro-extrusion was carried out under different amplitude (38 ∼ 760 N) and different frequency (0 ...

Micro-deformation behavior in micro-compression with high-purity aluminum processed by ECAP

open access: yesManufacturing Review, 2015
Ultrafine-grained (UFG) materials have a potential for applications in micro-forming since grain size appears to be the dominant factor which determines the limiting size of the geometrical features.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.
