Optimization of Microchannel Geometries to Enhance Convection Cooling of Parallel Plate Duct Flow [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2014
Forced convection heat transfer from arrays of microchannels was considered for fixed volume and fixed pressure drop constraints. Order of magnitude relationships were developed for the optimal dimension of a number of fundamental duct shapes including ...

Development of a Prediction Model for Progression Risk in High‐Grade Gliomas Based on Habitat Radiomics and Pathomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the value of constructing models based on habitat radiomics and pathomics for predicting the risk of progression in high‐grade gliomas. Methods This study conducted a retrospective analysis of preoperative magnetic resonance (MR) images and pathological sections from 72 patients diagnosed with high‐grade gliomas (52 ...

Tailoring Anisotropic Wettability Using Micro-pillar Geometry

open access: yesColloids and Interface Science Communications, 2014
AbstractAnisotropic surfaces have great potential in important applications like microfluidic devices, lab-on-chip systems, micro-reactors, coatings and printings. Anisotropic wetting behavior on micro-pillars is of particular interest since micro-scale morphology on many natural anisotropic wetting surfaces are pillar-like structures. It is found that

Geometry assessment of ultra-short pulsed laser drilled micro-holes [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2020
AbstractUltra-short pulsed laser ablation enables a defined generation of micro-holes. A parameter study on the ablation characteristics of copper clearly reveals a benefit for green wavelength with lower threshold fluence, simultaneously increasing the Rayleigh length.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
