Influence of pulse and direct current on electrodeposition of Ni Gd2O3 nanocomposite for micro hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance applications

Composites Communications, 2019
In this study, Ni and Ni Gd2O3 nanocomposite are electrodeposited from nickel sulphamate electrolyte using pulse current (PC) and direct current (DC). The surface morphology, chemical composition, surface topography, preferred orientation, micro hardness

PROGRESS IN MICRO-INDENTATION HARDNESS TESTING

Metallurgical Reviews, 1959
AbstractAs the concept of micro-indentation hardness testing has not yet become commonly accepted, nor has any definition of it been universally agreed upon, it is desirable to begin by reviewing the development and the present state of hardness testing under low load, and to say something about the terminology.

Fabrication of Ni-W-B4C composite coatings and evaluation of its micro-hardness and corrosion resistance properties

Ceramics International, 2018
Boron carbide (B4C) particles were embedded in nickel-tungsten (Ni-W) coatings by pulse current electrodeposition technique. Physical properties of the composite coatings were studied by XRD, SEM, EDS and Vickers micro-hardness instrument.

Characterization of martensite-austenite constituents and micro-hardness in intercritical reheated and coarse-grained heat affected zones of API X70 HSLA steel

Materials Characterization, 2018
The thermal cycles that high strength low alloy (HSLA) low carbon steels experience during welding inevitably affect the microstructure and mechanical properties of the weld joints. It is generally agreed that the coarse-grained heat affected zone (CGHAZ)

MICRO-HARDNESS MEASUREMENT OF STONE SAMPLES

2017
Stone hardness is an important factor which strongly affects machinability and overall quality of the stone machining processes. Identification of such heterogeneous materials in order to establish matching cutting parameters often requires a large number of micro-hardness measurements to be taken.

A nuclear tester for micro-hardness measurement

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2012
Abstract The dependence of alpha particle track diameter on the hardness of a diallyl maleate–allyl diglycol carbonate (DAM–ADC) nuclear track detector is investigated. When etched under optimum conditions, a relationship between track diameter and hardness is determined which is found to be linear.

Micro-Hardness Test of Cross-Linking LLDPE

Advanced Materials Research, 2017
The presented article deals with the research of micro-mechanical properties in the surface layer of modified linear polyethylene (LLDPE). These micro-mechanical properties were measured by the Depth Sensing Indentation - DSI method on samples which were non-irradiated and irradiated by different doses of the β - radiation (0, 66, 132 and 198 kGy ...

Micro-/Ultramicro Hardness Measurements with Insulating Films

SPIE Proceedings, 1986
Due to the definition of classical indentation hardness, the plastic behaviour of a material is investigated. But in the load-dependent range the influence of the elastic deformation also becomes noticeable. There is a remarkable difference between diagonal length and resulting hardness, in case of a pure dielectric and a dielectric with thin ductile ...

Improvement of micro endmill geometry for micro hard milling application

2008
One of the applications of the micromilling technology is to machine micro features on moulds by direct machining of hardened tool steels. However at this moment, this process is not industrial applicable because of the encountered problems, such as the big tool deflection, severe tool wear, and pre-mature tool breakage.
