Microstructure of Microalloyed Linepipe Steels [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 1: Codes, Standards and Regulations; Design and Constructions; Environmental; GIS/Database Development; Innovative Projects and Emerging Issues, 2000
The aim of this study was to characterize the microstructure of microalloyed linepipe steels. The steels investigated were X70 (0.04 wt% C - 0.02 wt% Ti - 0.07 wt% Nb) and X80 (0.04 wt% C - 0.025 wt% Ti - 0.09 wt% Nb) steels, where the numbers refer to their specified minimum yield strength (SMYS) in ksi.

Evolution of precipitates, in particular cruciform and cuboid particles, during simulated direct charging of thin slab cast vanadium microalloyed steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A study has been undertaken of four vanadium based steels which have been processed by a simulated direct charging route using processing parameters typical of thin slab casting, where the cast product has a thickness of 50 to 80mm ( in this study 50 mm)

Titanium microalloyed steels [PDF]

open access: yesIronmaking & Steelmaking, 2018
This review considers the compositions, the main process routes, microstructure and structural properties of microalloyed steels. The background and brief history are followed by sections dealing with aspects of precipitation, which control grain size and dispersion strengthening in ferrite–pearlite steels, the approaches to modelling thermomechanical ...

Vanadium microalloyed steel for thin slab casting and direct rolling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Vanadium microalloyed steels with high yield strength (»600 MPa), good toughness and ductility have been successfully produced in commercial thin slab casting plants employing direct rolling after casting.

Comparison of empirical and predicted substrate temperature during surface melting of microalloyed steel using TIG technique and considering three shielding gases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Erosion and wear resistance of steel can be enhanced by incorporating a ceramic powder in the surface. This aspect of surface engineering has applications in areas such as mining, agriculture and transport.

Hot ductility and deformation behavior of C-Mn/Nb-microalloyed steel related to cracking during continuous casting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Hot ductility studies have been performed on C-Mn and C-Mn-Nb steels with an approach to simulate the effect of cooling conditions experienced by steel in secondary cooling zone during continuous casting.

Tribological behaviour of microalloyed and conventional C–Mn rail steels in a pure sliding condition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper compares the tribological behaviour of microalloyed rail steel with conventional C–Mn rail steel under different test conditions (load, temperature and humidity).

Effect of the morphology of the martensite-austenite phase on fracture of the weld heat affected zone in vanadium and niobium microalloyed steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In multipass welding, the intercritically reheated coarse grained heat affected zone demonstrates the worst toughness in welded joint, since it contains a high-carbon martensite with some retained austenite, known as M-A phase, which is brittle and ...

New approach for modelling strain induced precipitation of Nb(C,N) in HSLA steels during multipass hot deformation in austenite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A new model for strain induced precipitation of Nb(C,N) is developed from the existing model for single pass hot deformation. This new model can be extended to multipass deformation to explain the microstructural evolution during the hot deformation of ...

Deformation behavior of two continuously cooled vanadium microalloyed steels at liquid nitrogen temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this work was to establish deformation behaviour of two vanadium microalloyed medium carbon steels with different contents of carbon and titanium by tensile testing at 77 K.
