Influence of Oxygen Contamination on the Genesis of Nonmetallic Inclusions in a Microalloyed Steel
Oxygen contamination during melting of steels strongly affects the evolution of nonmetallic inclusions. Controlled remelting experiments, combined with SEM/EDS analysis and thermodynamic simulations, reveal how reoxidation promotes the transformation of alumina‐based inclusions into complex FeO–MnO oxides and other interactions.

This review explains how impurities from recycled scrap affect steel production and performance. Even small amounts (far below 1%) of these impurities can change how steel behaves during fabrication but also affect the properties of the end product. With better understanding and targeted countermeasures, these challenges can be managed, enabling wider ...

Optimization of resistance spot welding parameters for microalloyed steel sheets
The paper presents the results of resistance spot welding of hot-dip galvanized microalloyed steel sheets used in car body production. The spot welds were made with various welding currents and welding time values, but with a constant pressing force of ...

The influence of Widmanstätten ferrite, martensite and grain boundary carbides on the strength and impact behaviour of high Al (0.2%) and Nb containing hot rolled steels [PDF]
The influence of Al and Nb on the strength and impact behaviour of hot rolled 0.06%C, 1.4%Mn steels has been determined after hot rolling to 15 and 30 mm thick plate.

High Nb (2.4 wt.%) addition to Maraging 300 steel drives lattice distortion and nanoscale Nb–Mo‐rich precipitation, confirmed by energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy mapping (Mo ~5.4 wt.%, Nb ~2.5 wt.%). Nanoindentation reveals strong matrix hardening (H >4.8 GPa) at 480°C aging, while 560°C induces ~1.92 vol.% reverted austenite, enabling tunable ...

Influence of plasma nitriding pressure on microabrasive wear resistance of a microalloyed steel
Microalloyed steels have been studied not only by the advent of the pre-salt, but also by the continuous search for improvement of their tribological properties.

Niobium cathodic cage duplex treatment is applied to VP20TS steel to evaluate the influence of surface roughness and temperature on coating performance. Results show that higher temperatures promote thicker nitride layers and increased microhardness, while finer surface preparation enhances adhesion and wear resistance, revealing optimal conditions for
