Novel biotransformation of menthone by microbial strains and vermicompost microbial consortium

Journal of Scientific Agriculture, 1970
The aim of the study was to evaluate the ability of Trichoderma harzianum and Pseudomonas fluorescence and vermicompost microbial consortium to biotransform the monoterpene menthone. The different microbial transformation was carried out in different media including the control flask.

Degradation of Rice Straw with Microbial Consortium

Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability, 2018
Rice cultivation generates large amount of crop residues in which only 20% is utilised for industrial and domestic purpose. In developing countries especially in India, rice straw is used as part of feeding ingredient for the ruminants, however, due to its low protein content and high level of lignin and silica it has limited digestibility and nutrient

Effect of multiwalled carbon nanotubes on UASB microbial consortium

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2015
The continuous rise in production and applications of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has grown a concern about their fate and toxicity in the environment. After use, these nanomaterials pass through sewage and accumulate in wastewater treatment plants. Since, such plants rely on biological degradation of wastes; their activity may decrease due to the presence

Biodegradation of Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate by a Wastewater Microbial Consortium

Water Environment Research, 2008
Biodegradation of an amphoteric surfactant commonly used in personal care products, disodium cocoamphodiacetate (DSCADA), was evaluated. Results from respirometry experiments indicated that high levels of DSCADA (>216 mg/L) may be toxic to bacteria in wastewater treatment processes.

Microbial degradation of aniline by bacterial consortium.

Biomedical and environmental sciences : BES, 2004
To investigate the characteristics of microbial degradation of aniline by a stable bacterial consortium. The bacterial consortium was isolated from activated sludge treating chemical wastewater using aniline as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen by enrichment and isolation technique. The biomass was measured as optical density (OD) at 510 nm using a

Natural materials as carriers of microbial consortium

Four different natural materials (natural zeolitized tuff, ZeoSand®, perlite, and crushed corncob) were tested as potential carriers of bacteria. A microbial consortium of different bacterial species was isolated and conditioned for bioaugmentation of biogas production reactors using Miscanthus X giganteus as substrate.
