Layered Nanoporous Platforms for SERS Sensing
Here, we present a detailed investigation of the SERS performance of layered nanoporous metals. The controlled deposition of well‐defined, stacked porous layers enabled a systematic analysis of the effects of multimetallic systems in SERS experiments. Numerical models are also used to support the experimental findings.

Microbial electrolysis kinetics and cell design
Large amounts of hydrogen are produced worldwide, which are nearly all from fossil origin. Use of biomass instead of fossil fuels to produce hydrogen can contribute to a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, the hydrogen has to be produced at

Soil Microbial Life History Strategies Drive Microbial Carbon Use Efficiency Following Afforestation
Soil microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE) is the core of the soil carbon (C) cycle that captures a dual microbial control point between soil organic C (SOC) accumulation and loss.

BioEISense is a microfluidic device with integrated impedance sensors, for real‐time, label‐free monitoring of S. aureus biofilms. In this study, the biofilm culture conditions were optimized to support sensitive and reproducible detection of biofilm formation and eradication under dynamic flow‐through conditions. The system was also validated for both

Parallel wiring of bioelectrochemical devices with conventional generators unexpectedly boosts output. A biophotovoltaic paired with a solar cell delivers up to 50% more power at low loads than their separate contributions; a plant microbial fuel cell shows similar current gains.
