Experimental, Genomic, and Structural Evidence Supporting Putative PET‐Hydrolases in Thermophilic Bacteria Isolated From Hot Springs in Cajamarca, Peru

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Integrated microbiological, genomic, and structural analyses of bacteria isolated from a Peruvian geothermal system reveal enzymatic potential for the transformation of polyesters such as PET. This study links experimental evidence with genomic determinants and in silico analyses that support the thermophilic bacteria biodegradation capacity.

Spatial Partitioning of Microbial Functional Potential Suggests Complex Nitrogen Cycling in a Subterranean Estuary

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 8, August 2026.
Microbial communities in a Mediterranean subterranean estuary show spatially structured nitrogen‐cycling potential across hydrochemical zones. Microbial properties, more than environmental variables, predict NO2− and NH4+ concentrations, highlighting their key role in controlling nitrogen transformations prior to submarine groundwater discharge ...

BIOMASSA MICROBIANA E SUA CORRELAÇÃO COM A FERTILIDADE DE SOLOS EM DIFERENTES SISTEMAS DE CULTIVO

open access: yesColloquium Agrariae, 2011
Atualmente com a crescente preocupação ecológica, a função dos microrganismos é mediar processos no solo relacionados com o manejo. Desta forma, podem ser sensíveis indicadores de mudanças na qualidade do solo. Os microorganismos possuem a capacidade dar

Screening of antioxidant activity, antimicrobial properties, and chemical profiles of 31 plant species against Vibrio and Pseudomonas in the Ecuadorian shrimp industry

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Opportunistic pathogens represent a significant threat to shrimp aquaculture, as they can reduce productivity and cause substantial economic losses. Plant‐derived compounds have been investigated as potential alternatives for controlling bacterial infections associated with shrimp farming.

Mechanically Programmable DNA Hydrogel Microparticles for 3D Cellular Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 37, 2 July 2026.
DNA hydrogel microparticles are designed to exhibit controllable viscoelasticity and stiffness across three orders of magnitude from 30Pa$30 \,\mathrm{Pa}$ to 6.5kPa$6.5 \,\mathrm{kPa}$. They are uptaken into fibroblast spheroids where they are actively remodeled by cellular forces depending on their mechanical properties.

SARS‐CoV‐2 and Cancer Biology: Exploring the Mechanistic Links

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 9, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Five years after the emergence of SARS‐CoV‐2 and the declaration of the COVID‐19 pandemic, the long‐term implications of COVID‐19 for cancer biology remain incompletely understood. Beyond the major disruptions in cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment observed worldwide, increasing attention has focused on whether SARS‐CoV‐2 ...

ATRIBUTOS DO SOLO EM SISTEMAS DIFERENCIADOS DE USO E MANEJO DO SOLO

open access: yesColloquium Agrariae, 2020

Diel and Artificial Light Effects on Nearshore Communities Revealed by eDNA Metabarcoding

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
Environmental DNA revealed rapid, taxon‐specific community reorganization across diel and artificial light conditions in a nearshore marine ecosystem. Distinct responses among trophic groups indicate that artificial light at night reshapes predator–prey interactions and community structure within 30 min of exposure.
