An ATP‐Mediated Antibiotic β‐Peptide Nanofiber That Kills Multidrug‐Resistant Bacteria via a Multistage Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 3K‐AP system forms infinite supramolecular fibrils that undergo controlled degradation into shorter fragments upon enzymatic hydrolysis. Multitechnique imaging reveals a stepwise bacteriolytic mechanism involving bacterial entrapment, disassembly into lethal constructs, and associated extracellular vesicle release, highlighting the dynamic ...

EEPD1 Inhibition Unleashes Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer by Activating the cGAS‐STING Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In colorectal cancer, high expression of the DNA repair protein EEPD1 correlates with immune exclusion and poor prognosis. This study demonstrates that EEPD1 depletion induces genomic instability, leading to cytosolic DNA accumulation and subsequent activation of the cGAS‐STING‐type I interferon pathway. This cascade remodels the tumor microenvironment

Dynamic Shifts in ER–Plasma Membrane Junctions Signaling Define Pro‐Metastatic N‐Glycosylation and Predict Prostate Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of male cancer death, yet screening cannot reliably identify aggressive disease, underscoring the need for tissue biomarkers. It is shown that primary tumors increase ER–plasma membrane junction signaling via STIM1/ORP5, whereas metastasis features their loss, Golgi dispersal, and rapid conversion of high‐mannose

Tetrahedral DNA Nanostructure‐Based Biomimetic Nanovesicles Attenuate Sepsis‐Associated ARDS by Suppressing Glycolysis via the BMAL1/PFKFB3 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Upon inhalation, RM@TNT could persist long‐term in the diseased lungs, while undergoing disintegration to release TNT specifically within the ROS‐rich pathological microenvironments of SA‐ARDS. The released TNT was then precisely delivered to AMs via Tuftsin, where it released Nob intracellularly to activate BMAL1 expression, thus inhibiting AM ...

Food Hygiene/Microbiological Safety in the Typical Household Kitchen: Some Basic ‘Must Knows’ for the General Public

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology, 2019
The primary objective of food hygiene is to eliminate or reduce the risk of exposure to foodborne illness. Biological, chemical and/ or physical agents contaminating food may cause foodborne illness, but by far the most common causes are biological ...

Generation of unique mono-hydroxy-eicosatetraenoic acids from arachidonic acid by human neutrophils. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Incubation of [3H]arachidonic acid with the 17,000-g supernatant from homogenates of human neutrophils in the presence of indomethacin generated the unique metabolites 9-OH-5,7,11,14-eicosatetraenoic acid (9-HETE) and 8-HETE, in addition to 12-HETE, 11 ...
