Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Gut microbiota alterations in patients with non‐small‐cell lung cancer undergoing chemoradiotherapy
We investigated the impact of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) on the gut microbiota in patients with locally advanced non‐small‐cell lung cancer. Overall gut microbiota composition remained largely stable throughout CRT while antibiotic exposure may influence microbial diversity.

Engineering the microbiome for animal health and conservation [PDF]
Interest in animal microbiomes as therapeutics is rapidly expanding, as techniques to study the microbial world decrease in cost and increase in accessibility and case studies from human medicine receive widespread attention. In this review, we summarize the current state of techniques to modify the microbiome to improve animal health, focusing on ...

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

Engineering microbiomes for enhanced bioremediation
Bioremediation using synthetic microbiomes offers significant advantages over traditional single-strain-based approaches. In this Perspective, we outline 5 important considerations for the rational design of pollutant-degrading microbiomes for enhanced bioremediation.

EVALUATING PREDICTIVE METABOLIC MODELLING TOOLS USING MICROBIOME SEQUENCING-METABOLOMIC DATA
Metabolomic technologies have been utilized increasingly in tandem with sequencing technologies in microbiome studies. Combined microbiome-metabolome approaches have fueled the discovery of many convincing associations between disease-associated ...
