Aptamer‐Directed Porous DNA Nanocomposite Hydrogel for Active Pulp Preservation: Immunomodulation, Stem Cell Recruitment and Reparative Dentinogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an injectable DNA‐based porous hydrogel integrating catechol motifs and targeting aptamers for pulpitis management. Upon in situ crosslinking, the scaffold actively recruits endogenous dental pulp stem cells, restores redox homeostasis, and modulates immune responses.

Tailored Nanogel Network Topology Enables Clinical Ultrasound‐Induced Mechanochemical Activation for In Vivo Therapy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The strategy of engineering nanogel network topology is developed to achieve iterative activation of mechanophores upon high‐frequency and low‐intensity ultrasound. This places the nanogel system among the systems that can respond to the ultrasound with the highest frequency and lowest intensity as well as have the fastest activation rate so far.

Therapeutic potential of ultrasound microbubbles in gastrointestinal oncology: recent advances and future prospects

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Gastroenterology, 2015
Microbubbles were initially invented as contrast agents for ultrasound imaging. However, lately more and more therapeutic applications of microbubbles are emerging, mostly related to drug and gene delivery.

Photoacoustic radiation force on a microbubble

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2014
We investigate the radiation force on a microbubble due to the photoacoustic wave which is generated by using a pulsed laser. In particular, we focus on the dependence of pulsed laser parameters on the radiation force. In order to do so, we first obtain a new and comprehensive analytical solution to the photoacoustic wave equation based on the Fourier ...

Dual‐Stage Microneedle Patch With Lipid Droplet‐Mediated ‘Capture‐Kill’ and Sustained Release for Enhanced Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a lipid‐droplet‐engineered, gallium‐loaded sonodynamic therapeutic platform (LDTG) incorporated into a bilayer microneedle (MN) patch co‐delivering all‐trans retinoic acid (ATRA), termed LDTG A‐MNs, for synergistic antibacterial therapy and accelerated wound repair.

High-Speed Generation of Microbubbles with Constant Cumulative Production in a Glass Capillary Microfluidic Bubble Generator

open access: yesMicromachines
This work reports a simple bubble generator for the high-speed generation of microbubbles with constant cumulative production. To achieve this, a gas–liquid co-flowing microfluidic device with a tiny capillary orifice as small as 5 μm is fabricated to ...

Magnetic resonance imaging of oxygen microbubbles

open access: yesHealthcare Technology Letters, 2019
Oxygen loaded microbubbles are being investigated as a means of reducing tumour hypoxia in order to improve response to cancer therapy. To optimise this approach, it is desirable to be able to measure changes in tissue oxygenation in real-time during ...

Theragnostic ultrasound using microbubbles in the treatment of prostate cancer [PDF]

open access: yesUltrasonography, 2016
The use of gas-filled microbubbles in perfusion monitoring as intravascular ultrasound contrast agents has recently become more common. Additionally, microbubbles are employed as carriers of pharmaceutical substances or genes.

Microblasting Wound Dressings Mechanically Disrupt Polymicrobial Biofilms to Enhance Healing in Treatment‐Resistant Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Treatment‐resistant wounds caused by polymicrobial biofilms are refractory to conventional therapies due to the dense extracellular matrices. We developed μBLAST, a microblasting wound dressing that combines MnO2‐doped biosilica and a H2O2‐releasing mesh to generate localized oxygen microbubbles that mechanically disrupt biofilms.

Sonochemically Produced Hemoglobin Microbubbles

open access: yes, 1994
Using high-intensity ultrasound, we have developed a method for the synthesis of airfilled hemoglobin (Hb) microbubbles (≈2.5 μm in diameter). Transmission electron, scanning electron, and optical microscopy show spherical particles with a shell ...
