Scaling temporal resolution from mice to humans: Challenges and innovations in preclinical imaging of translational models

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Temporal scaling physiology differs significantly between mice and humans. Mice have higher metabolism, heart and respiratory rate, as well as faster blood flow rates, brain activity and physiological dynamics over time. These differences influence the temporal resolution needed in preclinical imaging of mouse models to ...

CRISPR‐based therapeutic and modelling approaches in Huntington's disease: Progress, challenges and future directions

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR) is transforming Huntington's disease research through allele‐selective huntingtin (HTT) targeting, transcriptional and RNA suppression, and advanced disease modelling. Progress towards precision therapy depends on safe central nervous system (CNS) delivery, reduced off‐target and immune ...

Prolonged VV‐ECMO as a Bridge to Recovery From Persistent Hepatopulmonary Syndrome After Liver Transplantation: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesClin Case Rep
ABSTRACT In persistent HPS‐related hypoxemia after LT, prolonged VV‐ECMO can serve as a bridge to recovery when conventional oxygenation strategies fail. Serial contrast‐enhanced echocardiography and multidisciplinary management may support weaning decisions and the management of ECMO‐related complications.

Study of a Frugal Design Picosecond Laser System for Laser‐Assisted Corneal Surgery

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 19, Issue 10, October 2026.
Stromal surface after extraction of the lamella cut with the studied frugal picosecond laser source. ABSTRACT Femtosecond lasers have long been the gold standard for corneal laser‐assisted surgery, but their high cost limits widespread use. This study challenges their supremacy by investigating a cost‐effective alternative: a frugal all‐fiber ...

Active Electromagnetic Interference Suppression for MRI and Proton Resonance Frequency Shift Thermometry During MRI‐Guided Microwave Ablation

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 4, Page 1572-1588, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a software‐based active electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression (AES) framework on whole‐body multi‐channel MRI systems for reliable MRI and MR thermometry during MRI‐guided microwave ablation (MWA). Methods In addition to primary imaging coils, an unloaded standard body array coil was positioned outside the imaging ...

Ultrasonic Vibration Assisted Laser Processing: A Hybrid Paradigm for Extreme Surface Enhancement

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Traditional laser processing techniques offer many advantages, but they often encounter limitations such as heat‐affected zones, recast layers, residual tensile stresses, and poor surface finish. The integration of ultrasonic vibration (UV) presents a promising hybrid approach to overcome these challenges by introducing beneficial effects like

Formation of Boron Nitride Coating on SiC Fibers by Electrophoretic Deposition Method Using Pulsed Direct Current Field

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 5, October 2026.
BN coating with the thickness of 170–360 nm was formed on SiC fibers by pulsed DC EPD method with varying the applied voltage of 5–20 V with the migration time of 1 min. They were comparable to those formed by continuous DC EPD at the applied voltage of 5 V for 60 min reported in our previous study.
