Nanoscopic feldspar islands on K-feldspar microcline (001)
High-resolution atomic force microscopy on microcline (001) reveals nanoscopic islands, which have the same atomic structure as the terrace and are stable in contact with water. The islands were identified as an intrinsic feature of the surface.
