Differential deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis during microcycle conidiation in Neurospora crassa

Archives of Microbiology, 1978
In conidia of Neurospora crassa germinating at 25 degrees C, DNA synthesis measured by incorporation of tritiated adenosine reaches a maximum soon after the outgrowth of the germ tube (6--7 h after inoculation). In conidia heat-treated at 46 degrees C (for 15 h), a maximum of incorporation of the DNA precursor occurs already 1 h after inoculation, then

Microcycle conidiation and the conidial properties in the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium acridum on agar medium

Biocontrol Science and Technology, 2010
Abstract Conidiation of the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium acridum on agar media was investigated. M. acridum CQMa102 exhibits two different conidiation patterns on agar media: normal conidiation in which conidia are formed on extended hyphae and microcycle conidiation in which conidiation occurs directly after conidia germination.

Dimorphism and microcycle conidiation of Pseudocercospora pseudostigmina‐platani conidia from American sycamore

Forest Pathology, 2022
Abstract In this study, the micromorphology and surface details of Pseudocercospora pseudostigmina‐platani conidia were investigated on American sycamore ( Platanus occidentalis ) leaves. Sooty films were collected from diseased leaves

The microcyclic conidial stage of Coniochaeta pulveracea and its effect on selected biological interactions

Folia Microbiologica, 2015
Coniochaeta pulveracea is a dimorphic lignicolous fungus that has mostly been isolated from decaying wood. However, relatively little work was conducted on the conditions for the dimorphic switch or the biological interactions of the fungus in its yeast-like microcyclic growth phase.

Microcycle conidiation in Penicillium urticae: an ultrastructural investigation of spherical spore growth

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1975
A cultivation system has been developed for Penicillium urticae (NRRL 2159A) which yields 'microcycle' conidiation in submerged culture. Spherical growth of spores was initiated by incubation at 37 °C in a growth-favoring medium. Transfer of these enlarged spores to a nitrogen-poor medium at 35 °C resulted in synchronous germination and limited ...

DNA, RNA and protein biosynthesis during microcycle conidiation in Aspergillus niger

Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1978
The levels of DNA, RNA and protein were determined at different stages throughout microcycle conidiation in Aspergillus niger van Tiegh. The period of maximum accumulation of these cellular components occurred during spore growth rather than the period of conidiophore outgrowth.

In vitro growth and microcycle conidiation of Idriella bolleyi, a biocontrol agent of cereal pathogens

Mycological Research, 1994
The minimum nutrient requirements for growth of Idriella (= Microdochium ) bolleyi in shaken liquid culture were mineral salts, nitrate nitrogen, glucose and thiamine. Typical batch culture kinetics were displayed in this medium and were assessed by culture turbidity when sodium alginate was used to induce growth by dispersed mycelia. Conidia were

D-Glucose soluble starch, a novel medium for inducing microcyclic conidiation in Aspergillus

Mycological Research, 1992
d -Glucose soluble starch (D-GSS) is a new growth medium for the induction of microcyclic conidiation in Aspergillus . Four different aspergilli, A. niveus, A. tamarii, A. terreus and Aspergillus sp. produced conidiophores, vesicles, sterigmata and conidia within 18–24 h of incubation with no intervening vegetative mycelium.

Microcycle conidiation induced by partial nitrogen deprivation in Neurospora crassa

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1984
Premature macroconidiation occurs at the tips of germ tubes elongated as presumptive conidiophores from macroconidia of Neurospora crassa incubated at 37 °C in nitrogen-limited shaken cultures. The use of different nitrogen sources indicated that this differentiation process could be induced by ammonium deprivation.

Stress Induced Microcycle Conidiation in Fungi

Journal of Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology Research
Microcycle conidiation (MC) is a kind of survival mechanism in fungi reproducing asexually to produce a lot of spores in stress to withstand themselves unfavorably. In MC, new conidia are often formed on conidiophores from the parent conidia with the arrest of a mycelial phase. The conidia thus produced are synchronous in nature.
