Magnetically gated microelectrodes
Chem. Commun., 2012Microelectrodes fabricated in the center of single-coil microelectromagnetic traps are described. Magnetic particles are then used to reversibly gate transport of an electroactive species to the surface of the electrode or as a means to produce an ON/OFF bioelectrocatalytic glucose sensor.

The noise and impedance of microelectrodes
Journal of Neural Engineering, 2020Abstract Objective. While the positive correlation between impedance and noise of microelectrodes is well known, their quantitative relationship is too rarely described. Knowledge of this relationship provides useful information for both microsystems engineers and electrophysiologists.

Measurement of glass microelectrodes

A quantitative assessment of microelectrodes
Ultramicroscopy, 2009In order to improve the performance and applicability of atom probe tomography, the application of microelectrodes has been suggested and is realized in modern commercial instruments. In contrast to the original proposition by Nishikawa, in practical realization the down scaling of the microelectrode is limited to about 10microm due to the requirements

Hydrodynamics with heated microelectrodes
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2004Voltammetry with continuously heated microelectrodes yields well-defined sigmoidal current-voltage curves. Unlike hydrodynamic electrodes, the surface temperature of a heated electrode can be adjusted arbitrarily within a certain range. Inside a thermal layer, a virtually stagnant diffusion layer of constant thickness delta(diff) exists. delta(diff )is

A technique for making recording microelectrodes containing an ultrafine carbon fibre is described. This technique can be used for single- and multi-barrel microelectrodes. These microelectrodes not only have a very low signal-to-noise ratio comparable with that found in tungsten microelectrodes but are simpler to make.

An improved pCO2 microelectrode
Analytical Biochemistry, 1978Abstract By utilizing the recently developed glass-membrane pH microelectrode an improved pCO 2 microelectrode has been manufactured. The new pCO 2 microelectrode described here has been made with tip diameters ranging from 2 to 200 μm. In addition, the sensitivity (slope) was nearly theoretical, 56 to 60 mV/log pCO 2 , the response time was 1–3 ...

Studies on Electroosmotic Effects in Glass Microelectrodes - Improvement of Microelectrode Selection
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1984Changes in the resistance and tip potential of open-tip glass microelectrodes as function of the polarity and intensity of an injected current are presented and analyzed. These experimental results are explained on the basis of a quantitative diffusion model which includes an electroosmotic effect through the microtip.

Pipette-integrated microelectrodes
Nature Biomedical Engineering, 2019A suite of microelectrodes integrated into glass pipettes, for the simultaneous recording of intracellular and extracellular data in the brains of living mice and rats, yields ground-truth data for the validation of the performance of spike-sorting algorithms.
