Analytical Chemistry, 2004
In this work, a new and simple microextraction method termed solvent bar microextraction (SBME) was developed. In this method, the organic extractant solvent (1-octanol) was confined within a short length of a hollow fiber membrane (sealed at both ends) that was placed in a stirred aqueous sample solution.

Microextraction of essential oils: A review
Journal of Chromatography A, 2023Liquid phase microextraction (LPME) and solid phase microextraction (SPME) are popular extraction techniques for sample preparation due to their green and highly efficient single-step extraction efficiency. With the increasing attention to essential oils, their evaluation and analysis are significant in analytical sciences.

Dispersive suspended microextraction
Analytica Chimica Acta, 2011A novel sample pre-treatment technique termed dispersive suspended microextraction (DSME) coupled with gas chromatography-flame photometric detection (GC-FPD) has been developed for the determination of eight organophosphorus pesticides (ethoprophos, malathion, chlorpyrifos, isocarbophos, methidathion, fenamiphos, profenofos, triazophos) in aqueous ...

Headspace Solvent Microextraction
Analytical Chemistry, 2001A hanging microliter drop of 1-octanol is shown to be an excellent preconcentration medium for headspace analysis of volatile compounds in an aqueous matrix by gas chromatography (GC) or gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Model compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and o-xylene (BTEX) are conveniently and rapidly preconcentrated in the ...

Microextraction by Packed Sorbent
Bioanalysis, 2015Microextraction by packed sorbent (MEPS) is a miniaturized form of SPE. MEPS can handle small sample volumes and be connected on-line with LC or GC without any modifications. In addition, the MEPS sorbent bed is integrated into an injection syringe and can be used for more than 100 extractions. The key aspect of MEPS is that the solvent volume used for

Hollow fiber microextraction: a new hybrid microextraction technique for trace analysis
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2018A new hybrid microextraction technique (hollow fiber microextraction) is presented that uses the main concepts and advantages of the modern miniaturized devices used for trace analysis. This novel analytical approach uses devices made of polypropylene membranes (10.0 mm long and 0.6 mm internal diameter) in which convenient organic solvents are ...

Single-Drop Microextraction in Bioanalysis
Bioanalysis, 2011Bioanalysis usually requires a preparation procedure for sample cleanup or preconcentration. Conventional sample preparation techniques are often time consuming and labor intensive. Among recent progress in sample preparation, single drop microextraction (SDME) is one of the most efficient techniques providing both sample cleanup and preconcentration ...

Multiple solid-phase microextraction
Journal of Chromatography A, 2000Theoretical aspects of multiple solid-phase microextraction are described and the principle is illustrated with the extraction of lidocaine from aqueous solutions. With multiple extraction under non-equilibrium conditions considerably less time is required in order to obtain an extraction yield that is equal to that of one extraction at equilibrium. On
