Applications of Liquid-Phase Microextraction in the Sample Preparation of Environmental Solid Samples

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
Solvent extraction remains one of the fundamental sample preparation techniques in the analysis of environmental solid samples, but organic solvents are toxic and environmentally harmful, therefore one of the possible greening directions is its ...

New sorbents for extraction and microextraction techniques

open access: yesJournal of Chromatography A, 2010
This review outlines recent progress in the research on some new classes of sorbents for extraction and microextraction techniques. Carbon nanotubes are allotropes of carbon with cylindrical structure. They are very stable systems having considerable chemical inertness due to the strong covalent bonds of the carbon atoms on the nanotube surface.

Microextraction Techniques in Illicit Drug Testing: Present and Future [PDF]

open access: yesBioanalysis, 2016
Sample preparation is of utmost importance in both qualitative and quantitative analysis of illicit drugs because complex matrices, such as biological specimens, are involved in the assay. In forensic toxicology, the analysis is typically performed on biological fluids such as urine, serum and plasma.

Experimental methods in chemical engineering: Atomic absorption spectrometry—AAS

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Elements absorb electromagnetic radiation (light) of a specific wavelength in proportion to the number of atoms in its path. As the atoms absorb this light energy, electrons rise from the ground state to an excited state. In atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), high temperatures produce clouds of atoms from the sample (atomization) and ...

Headspace analysis of natural yoghurt using headspace solid phase microextraction : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Philosophy in Food Technology at Massey University (Turitea Campus), Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The Solid Phase Microextraction (SPME) method was originally developed to extract volatile and semivolatile compounds from wastewater samples but has since been applied to flavour compounds in foods and beverages.

Microextraction techniques combined with capillary electrophoresis in bioanalysis [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2012
Over the past two decades, many environmentally sustainable sample-preparation techniques have been proposed, with the objective of reducing the use of toxic organic solvents or substituting these with environmentally friendly alternatives. Microextraction techniques (MEs), in which only a small amount of organic solvent is used, have several ...

Capillary Zone Electrophoresis for the Analysis of Phenolic Preservatives in Plasma and Insulin Formulations Using Salting‐Out Assisted Liquid–Liquid Extraction

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
A rapid and reliable SALLE–CZE–UV method was developed for the determination of phenolic preservatives in insulin formulations and human plasma. The approach provides efficient extraction, fast separation (< 6 min), and excellent sensitivity, precision, and recovery, meeting regulatory requirements for accurate quantification.
