Organic Electrochemical Transistors for Energy‐Autonomous Bioelectronics: Materials, Devices, and System Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This review surveys organic electrochemical transistors as core building blocks for energy‐autonomous bio‐integrated electronics. We outline device physics, OMIEC materials, and electrolyte effects that enable sub‐volt, high‐gain operation, and discuss direct coupling with mechanical, thermal, and optical energy harvesters to realize battery‐free ...

Ionomer‐Free Iridium Anodes With Low Loading for Zero‐Gap Electrolyzers via Direct Atomic Layer Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Iridium‐based anode catalyst layers for proton exchange membrane water electrolysis were fabricated via atomic layer deposition (ALD). Using custom‐made microporous substrates and thermal ALD, current densities of up to 2.5 A·cm−2${\rm A}\cdot{\rm cm}^{-2}$ at 0.21 mg·cm−2$\text{mg}\cdot {\text{cm}}^{-2}$ Ir loading were achieved.

Microfibers Are Not Delicious

open access: yes, 2019
“Microfibers Are Not Delicious” is a piece where scraps of fabric and thread are found and then place them in glass cylinders of water. The inspiration is from looking at images of microfibers, the goal was to enlarge what microfibers looked for the ...

Versatile Standing Wave Generation Between Arbitrarily Oriented Surfaces Using Acoustic Metasurface Deflectors and Retroreflectors

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
A novel method for generating versatile standing wave fields using an acoustic metasurface deflector and retroreflector is introduced. By overcoming traditional constraints of parallel surfaces, the approach enables customizable wave patterns and enhances applications in particle manipulation.

Highly birefringent optical microfibers

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
Highly birefringent (Hi-Bi) air-clad silica microfibers (MFs) with wavelength and sub-wavelength scale transverse dimensions are studied theoretically and experimentally. Hi-Bi MFs are taper-drawn from the standard SMF-28 single mode fibers that are "pre-processed" by "cutting away" parts of the silica cladding on opposite sides of the fiber with a ...

Optimizing Electrode Design for Functional Activation of Human Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Electrical stimulation of human pluripotent stem cell‐derived cardiomyocytes is systematically investigated as a function of electrode material and configuration. Stimulation efficiency is found to be governed predominantly by electrode geometry, with increased electrode area and proximity to cells enabling more effective pacing.

Lengthy one-dimensional magnetite (Fe3O4) sub-microfibers with excellent electrochemical performance

open access: yes, 2017
© 2017One dimensional Fe3O4 sub-microfibers with an average diameter of about 920 nm and length of about 25 µm were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis in the presence of sodium citrate (Na3cit).

Conductive PMMA/rGO Microfibers via Solution Blow Spinning: Role of Fiber Architecture on Electrical Transport

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
A multidisciplinary characterization approach combining microscopy, tomography, spectroscopy, and electrical measurements reveals how fiber architecture and network connectivity govern electrical transport in PMMA/rGO microfibers by solution blow spinning.

NiFe‐NO3 Layered Double Hydroxide as a Novel Anode for Sodium Ion Batteries

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
This study demonstrates, for the first time, the effectiveness of using LDH as an anodic material in SIB. The material is stable and show high specific capacity, the reaction mechanism has been thoroughly investigated and comprehensively described and involves a phase change reaction followed by sodium intercalation.
