Structural Guidance in 3D Microgel‐in‐Hydrogel Systems to Improve Chondrogenesis
The Anisogel, an anisotropic microgel‐in‐hydrogel system, guides chondrogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSCs) modulated by the alignment and size of anisometric microgels. Chondrogenic markers are upregulated in an in vitro model and guided tissue infiltration is enhanced in a semi‐orthopedic mouse model due to the physico ...

Gellan gum fluid gel (FG) enables controlled ocular delivery of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EV). Its shear‐thinning, solid‐liquid‐solid rheology ensures prolonged ocular retention. Sustained MSC‐EV release (∼18% in 6 hrs) supports effective EV ocular delivery.

Neutron Reflectometry and Compression of Graded Hydrogel Surfaces
Highly‐entangled and covalently‐crosslinked hydrogels with thin and thick surface gel layers are compressed in neutron reflectometry experiments. Surface gel layer thickness dictates the extent to which the polymer network at the surface of a hydrogel collapses, while crosslinking chemistry, and therefore elastic modulus, impacts the pressure at which ...

Microgel‐Based Immunomodulatory Biomaterials for Regulating Macrophage Polarization
Macrophages are key regulators of the immune system. Modulating their phenotype from pro‐inflammatory (M1) to pro‐regenerative (M2) is key to engineering implantable tissue scaffolds for regenerative medicine. Understanding the cell‐matrix mechanosensitive trends macrophages exhibit with microgel‐based biomaterials will enhance future research.
