Microgels 4: The preparation of novel microgels and their applications

Die Angewandte Makromolekulare Chemie, 1996
AbstractThis paper describes studies on the formation of microgels from high functionality mixtures of monomers which are able to polymerise by a step‐growth process to polyurethanes in the specially selected solvent butan‐2‐one. Using the reactants poly(ethylene glycol) 6000, 1,2,6‐hexanetriol and biscyclohexylmethane‐4,4′‐diisocyanate in formulations

Injectable MSC Spheroid and Microgel Granular Composites for Engineering Tissue

Advances in Materials
Many cell types require direct cell–cell interactions for differentiation and function; yet, this can be challenging to incorporate into 3‐dimensional (3D) structures for the engineering of tissues.

Injectable Gelatin Microgel-based Composite Ink for 3D Bioprinting in Air.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2020
Injectable hydrogels have attracted much attention in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for their capability to replace implantation surgeries with a minimally invasive injection procedure and ability to fill irregular defects.

Flower type microgels: 1. Synthesis of the microgels

Polymer, 1997
Poly(2-vinyl pyridine-b-styrene-b-2-vinyl pyridine) BAB type block copolymers were synthesized by anionic living polymerization. The micelle formation of these BAB type triblock copolymers was carried out in toluene and toluene/cyclohexane mixture, and estimated with dynamic light scattering for the polymer solutions.

Marine Microgels

Annual Review of Marine Science, 2012
The ocean plays a critical role in global carbon cycling: it handles half of the global primary production, yielding the world's largest stock of reduced organic carbon (ROC) that supports one of the world's largest biomasses. However, the mechanisms whereby ROC becomes mineralized remain unresolved.

Polymer dynamics in responsive microgels: influence of cononsolvency and microgel architecture

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2012
The dynamics of polymers on the nm and ns scales inside responsive microgels was probed by means of Neutron Spin Echo (NSE) experiments. Four different microgels were studied: poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and poly(N,N-diethylacrylamide) (PDEAAM) microgels, a P(NIPAM-co-DEAAM) copolymer microgel and a core-shell microgel with a PDEAAM core and a

Microgel‐Stabilized Metal Nanoclusters: Size Control by Microgel Nanomorphology

Advanced Materials, 2003
Soluble crosslinked macromolecules (microgels) used as stabilizers of catalytically active metal nanoclusters allow control of the nanocluster size by simply changing the crosslinking degree of the microgel. Microgel‐stabilized metal nanoclusters are easily prepared and stored in the solid state, and those of Pd (see Figure) exhibit high catalytic ...

Engineering the Cellular Mechanical Microenvironment to Regulate Stem Cell Chondrogenesis: Insights from a Microgel Model.

Acta Biomaterialia, 2020
Biophysical cues (especially mechanical cues) embedded in cellular microenvironments show a critical impact on stem cell fate. Despite the capability of traditional hydrogels to mimic the feature of extracellular matrix (ECM) and tune their ...

Microgels in biomaterials and nanomedicines

Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2019
Microgels are colloidal particles with crosslinked polymer networks and dimensions ranging from tens of nanometers to micrometers. Specifically, smart microgels are fascinating capable of responding to biological signals in vivo or remote triggers and making the possible for applications in biomaterials and biomedicines. Therefore, how to fundamentally
