Cell Adhesion by Design: Engineering Tissue Culture Scaffolds With Adhesion Cues

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In scaffold‐based tissue engineering, the matrix should provide adequate adhesion cues for cell attachment, spreading, and function. Given the multitude of adhesion receptors and the diversity of scaffolds, there are many approaches to render scaffolds adhesive, even though they are not all equivalent.

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printable Stretchable Pressure Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We present a carbon‐black‐functionalized double‐network granular hydrogel (DNGH) pressure sensor capable of detecting pressures from 200 Pa, equivalent to a light finger touch, up to 500 kPa. The sensor exhibits signal drifts below 3.5% after 800 cycles and response times around 80 ms. Leveraging this broad sensing range, we 3D print this material into

Hybrid pH-Responsive Au@p4VP Microgels as Platform for Selective SERS Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present the synthesis a of pH-responsive core@shell hybrid microgel. This colloidal system is formed by a 55 nm Au core individually covered by a polymeric pH-sensitive shell of poly(4-vinylpyridine), that we denote as Au@p4VP.

Questioning the relationship between the $\chi$4 susceptibility and the dynamical correlation length in a glass former

open access: yes, 2015
Clusters of fast and slow correlated particles, identified as dynamical heterogeneities (DHs), con-stitute a central aspect of glassy dynamics. A key ingredient of the glass transition scenario is asignificant increase of the cluster size $\xi$4 as the ...
