Functionally complementary bacterial inoculant coordinates arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to improve Angelica sinensis root yield and quality

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Comprehensive understanding of how diverse PGPR strains enhance the rhizosphere microenvironment remains a considerable challenge. Here, we provide experimental evidence that a functionally synergistic composite microbial formulation can markedly enhance growth performance and improve the quality attributes in Angelica sinensis.

Symbiotic Germination Technique of an Endangered Epiphytic Orchid Dendrobium sinominutiflorum: A Promising Conservation Application 濒危附生兰科植物勐海石斛 (Dendrobium sinominutiflorum) 的共生萌发技术:一种具有应用前景的保护策略

open access: yesIntegrative Conservation, EarlyView.
We developed an effective ex‐situ conservation approach for an endangered orchid species, Dendrobium sinominutiflorum. A compatible fungal strain Tulasnella sp. was obtained by using in‐situ seed baiting technique. The Symbiotic germination with Tulasnella sp. significantly promotes seed germination and seedling growth.

Nutrient composition and heavy metal accumulation in water hyacinth [Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms] and water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes L.) from the Dande River, Nepal: Implications for use as alternative feed resources

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The proliferation of invasive aquatic macrophytes poses a significant ecological challenge globally, while many tropical regions face chronic shortages of affordable livestock feed. This study addresses this dual problem by assessing two invasive species, water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes ...

Soil stoichiometric characteristics and influencing factors in karst forests at microtopography and microhabitat scales [PDF]

open access: yesSOIL
To quantitatively assess soil stoichiometric characteristics in karst forests under complex microenvironments, this study systematically investigated the distribution patterns of soil nutrients and influencing factors across different microtopography and

Biochar‐Induced Shifts in Fungal Community Structure and Their Association With Soil Physical Properties in Degraded Soil From the Brazilian Semiarid

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soil degradation compromises ecosystem functioning. Biochar, a carbon‐rich amendment, has gained attention as a promising strategy to enhance soil structure and restore microbial balance. This study investigated the effects of two biochars, cashew bagasse biochar (CBB) and a co‐pyrolyzed biochar produced from sewage sludge and cashew pruning ...

Microhabitat of hatchery rainbow trout

open access: yes, 1969
Hatchery rainbow trout, wild rainbow trout, or wild brown trout were introduced into a flume that simulated a natural stream. Fish were observed hourly and parameters of the selected microhabitat locations were measured. Fishes differed in water velocity of microhabitat areas selected, water strata utilized, and degree of thigmotaxis exhibited ...

Effect of population reinforcement method, site, and plant characteristics on early establishment of the rare endemic plant species Minuartia smejkalii

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Many habitat‐specialist plant species have been endangered by fragmentation or destruction of their habitats. Minuartia smejkalii is a serpentinophyte endemic to the Czech Republic. It is highly threatened by recent habitat destruction and fragmentation, calling for effective conservation measures.

A Lack of “Environmental Earth Data” at the Microhabitat Scale Impacts Efforts to Control Invasive Arthropods That Vector Pathogens

open access: yesData, 2019
We currently live in an era of major global change that has led to the introduction and range expansion of numerous invasive species worldwide. In addition to the ecological and economic consequences associated with most invasive species, invasive ...
