Towards Sustainable Gold Depositions: Sulfite‐Based Cyanide‐Free Au‐Coatings Under Acidic Electrochemical Operation for PEM Electrolysis

open access: yesFuel Cells, Volume 26, Issue 2, April 2026.
Sulfite‐based cyanide‐free gold electrodeposition is evaluated for multilayer Au/Ni/Cu coatings targeting PEM water electrolysis bipolar plates. The coatings exhibit dense microstructures, low interfacial contact resistance (∽9.4 mΩ·cm2), and corrosion behavior comparable to cyanide‐derived references.

Crosslinked Gelatin‐Polycaprolactone Scaffolds: Balancing Biocompatibility and Inflammatory Response for Tissue Engineering Applications

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 66, Issue 4, Page 2537-2556, April 2026.
Crosslinked gelatin‐functionalized PCL scaffolds exhibited enhanced hydrophilicity, structural stability, and porous interactions. In vitro assays demonstrated improved osteoblast adhesion, viability, and proliferation without cytotoxicity, while in vivo evaluation showed no adverse inflammatory response, supporting their potential application in ...

Enhanced Surface Properties and In Vitro Corrosion Tests of Ti─Nb─Sn Coating on CoCrMo Alloy for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesPlasma Processes and Polymers, Volume 23, Issue 4, April 2026.
Ti–Nb–Sn thin films were deposited on CoCrMo alloy by DC magnetron sputtering to enhance surface performance for biomedical applications. The coating significantly improved corrosion resistance in PBS by reducing corrosion current density and increasing polarization resistance. Tribological tests under dry and PBS conditions revealed a marked reduction

A Review on Cracking in Laser Additive Manufacturing of Nickel‐Based Superalloys: Types, Formation Mechanisms, and Suppression Strategies

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Nickel‐based superalloys (Ni‐based superalloys) have attracted extensive attention in laser additive manufacturing (LAM) due to their capability to directly fabricate complex and high‐performance structural components. However, the rapid melting and solidification inherent to LAM result in intense thermal cycling, which induces high residual ...

Ultrahigh‐Strength Soft‐Magnetic NiFeCoAl Multi‐Principal Element Alloys Enabled by Multiscale Heterostructure Design

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Soft‐magnetic materials (SMMs) are indispensable for electrification and sustainable energy systems, yet their inherent mechanical fragility fundamentally limits applications under severe mechanical stresses. Enhancing the yield strength of SMMs is essential to prevent the degradation in magnetic performance and failure from plastic ...
