Microhardness anisotropy of lamellar bone

Journal of Biomechanics, 1997
The Knoop microhardness test has been utilised to observe in-plane microhardness anisotropy of rat tibiae. The elongated rhombohedral geometry of the Knoop indenter enables the Knoop microhardness (HK) to be calculated for a given indenter orientation.

The Microhardness of Articular Cartilage

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1975
The standard metallurgical technique of microhardness testing was useful for investigations on the physical properties of articular cartilage. The problem of visco-elasticity of the cartilage was overcome by using a brittle lacquer coating as a memory device. The surface layer was the hardest plane when the superficial layer was intact.

Microhardness of phosphate glasses

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1994
Abstract Vickers microhardness values of some binary and ternary phosphate glasses were determined. An increase of Vickers hardness was obtained on addition of a second alkali oxide (Li2O or K2O) or a divalent oxide (CaO or ZnO) to a sodium phosphate glass. The microhardness values were also seen to be a function of the applied load.

Fluoride treatment and microhardness of dentin

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1979
Effects of various fluoride treatments on the microhardness of human dentin were determined. Treatment with acidulated phosphate-fluoride at pH 3.0 induced a significant (p less than .05) softening when compared to treatment with water. APF at pH 4.0 did not bring about a significant change.

Microhardness and microhardness anisotropy of tungsten

Transactions of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, 1968
Both doped and undoped W single crystals exhibit hardness anisotropy with respect to the direction of testing in each of the crystallographic planes investigated. The hardness anisotropy of undoped, single-crystal W is rather pronounced in the {001} and {110} planes but very minor in the {111} planes.

Microhardness of provisional fixed prosthodontic materials

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1999
Provisional restorations play a critical role in the success of restorative treatment. Thus, the provisional restoration must maintain its surface integrity throughout the restorative process. This study evaluated the microhardness of 5 prosthodontic provisional materials.Cylindrical samples of 3 bis-acryl resin composites (Integrity, Protemp Garant ...

Microhardness of NaCl Bicrystals

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1982
Microhardness measured on cleaved surfaces of nominally pure and lightly calcium‐doped NaCl bicrystals showed a modest increase at the grain boundary that could be attributed to segregation of calcium and a larger increase in both bulk and boundary produced by rapid cooling.

Microhardness of Multilayer Composites

Inorganic Materials: Applied Research, 2019
When the number of composite layers is increased, the Vickers microhardness and the dependence between the threshold energy density of ablative destruction under the action of a laser pulse related to the average transmittance of light by the composites grow.

Microhardness of Polymers

2000
This book, first published in 2000, deals with the micromechanical characterization of polymer materials. Particular attention is given to microhardness as a technique capable of detecting a variety of morphological and textural changes in polymers. A comprehensive introduction to the microhardness of polymers is provided, including descriptions of ...
