Het jaar 2004 was weer warm, maar natter dan de vorige jaren. Verzamelaars van kleine vlinders vonden het een slecht jaar; desalniettemin zijn er nooit eerder van zoveel soorten in een jaar waarnemingen gemeld (196). Opmerkelijk is wel dat er voor het eerst sinds 1982 geen soorten nieuw voor de fauna werden gevonden.

Béla Kuthy (1873–1946) was a physician and excellent entomologist who lived in Kiskunhalas (Central Hungary) and studied the local fauna from 1920 to 1946. After his death the collection was housed in a secondary grammar school without special attention.
