Moths versus Bees: Contrasts in Habitat Preferences Across Barrens of the Northeastern USA
We investigated the response of bee vs. moth communities to abiotic and vegetation drivers in barrens across the Northeast USA. Bee and moth communities contrasted in their habitat preferences for abundance and species richness, but not for the Shannon‐Wiener Diversity Index. Our results suggest that barrens management for both closed and open canopies

We know very little about pollination in the Platanthera Rich (Orchidaceae: Orchidoideae)
This review of Platanthera pollination ecology shows that there are a number of orchid species in the group without pollinator information. Considerable knowledge gaps were identified even for those species where pollinator information has been reported, and these gaps impact our ability to appropriately manage orchid and pollinator populations, which ...

DNA metabarcoding of light trap samples vs. morphological species identification
Five light trap samples of different complexities were subjected to COI metabarcode sequencing. Species detection rates of metabarcoding versus manual identification were compared between the samples and two different amplicons. Metabarcoding was able to detect between 46% and 69% of manually identified species.

Metabarcoding of automatic light traps in a tropical forest reveals great diversity. Comparing metabarcoding to local long‐term monitoring program reveals this to be successful at capturing known diversity of focal species. Abstract Although studies of insect decline have recently dominated headlines worldwide, their interpretation requires caution ...
